I had an idea for a story. Basically, it would revolve around a piece of either magic or technology that, through means unimportant, allows people to swap bodies with each other temporarily. (If you want to get into safety concerns, you can say there's a fail-safe, and if you're worried about what's being done with your body, you can press a button or whatever and be returned to your proper body.) I was thinking of having it take place at a party, where a group of people swap bodies with each other and naughtiness ensues.

I'm still unsure how exactly to go about it, though. Should they be friends, acquaintances, strangers? Should they attend the party with the expectation of sex, or does it just happen? What would be most erotic?

How about a group of college students, some couples, some just platonic friends, but a balanced group of boys and girls; say three or four of each. They go on a trip to the woods, find an old cabin. But here's a take on it. Instead of having the switch occur as a surprise, how about a long and gradual lead up to it, with a lot of speculation and joking between the people as to what they'd do "IF"....

This is a great story idea. I wouldn't over think it - just start writing or find somebody(ies) to collaborate with you in an SRP. I think I'd make it a clandestine party. People get invited, but they don't know why. Of those that show up, they're given one chance to back out -- then it happens.

Don't get hung up on the nuts and bolts. Go for the gusto on this one. It is a great idea.

I guess one thing I'm wondering is how do you set it up? Are they aware they're about to swap bodies, or is it some sort of ancient Hittite candle that, when lit, swaps everyone's bodies until sunrise, and no one has any idea. Is this an invite only thing, or spontaneous?

There are different ways to do it. The idea I like is that it is invitation only and the couple who set it up and sent out the invites knows that it will happen but it's a surprise otherwise. They chose people that they thought it would be fun or interesting to have in this situation.

Those reasons could be as light or dark as you wanted it to be. Maybe one of the guests is trans but never mustered up the resolve to start the transition and so this is a way to (if only for a while) give that character the body they should have. Maybe another is a real misogynist and they want to do a "mile in her shoes" kind of thing.

Just my thoughts on the matter. It being fully known to all or fully a surprise are also interesting options' particularly when/if things get sexual.

How about this. It's a secret R&D facility for spy operations aimed at developing new means to infiltrate the enemy's cities and government. The machine has been developed and some prelim testing done, but now they need a full scale test. Six men and six women are selected.
