Bob Woodward: Obama 'mistaken' on sequester

Don't give me that bullshit. Where did the idea originate? Obama lied.

Fine it was possibly Harry Reid's idea. Republicans in the House then wrote the sequestration bill. Did Harry Reid make them do it?

The idea originated in the White House, not Congress, so Obama flat out lied.

Okay so some mid-level officials took the proto-idea for sequestration to House Republicans and they drafted into legislation. Cool. Bipartisan legislation was bipartisan. I don't care where the idea started or where Obama rightly or wrongly placed its origination.

I'm on record saying it will not happen. Care to go on record with a prediction as well?

Even your article doesn't accuse Obama of lying. It accuses him of being mistaken and not understanding very technical jargon. While I agree the President should understand these things and should not make those kinds of mistakes we have term limits and those prevent people from ever learning everything they should know.

No they took it to Reid. You have to care where it originated because it impeaches the President's insistent public statements. It means something when the President lies.

So you're not going on record, coward?

Probably what happened is the general idea came from the administration and the specifics were drawn up between all parties.

dude you're letting your ego fight a worthless battle here.
don't be so combative, it takes away from your credibility.

so obama misled, lied, stretched, whatever. so has romney, so did bush, so did clinton, et. al. it's what they do.

i like your style of debate but sometimes you have to concede, yeah?

I just said the idea probably came from the administration. Look, Vette just cited a legitimate journalist for the first time since 1981 so I'm kind of in shock here and maybe not thinking clearly. Give me 5 minutes.

Also the new Iron Man 3 trailer was like whoa.

You need to rethink your use of the word "coward"............

haha :)

yeah that is a pretty sweet trailer.
i might skip it though, i'm still on superhero overload from 'avengers'.

I would like to see Detroit win the world series, however I will not predict it, therefore I'm a coward.

Nope not at all similar. Vette and Romney hold sequestration up as part of Obama's economic plan. They hold him accountable for military cuts but won't actually say that the cuts will happen. But they still count the cuts against Obama. And they minimize the fact that sequestration is a thoroughly bipartisan plan in order to make it a partisan issue.

That's a cowardly position.

Your definition of "coward" is different than mine.

Taking a position to attack someone while refusing to be accountable for actually holding that position? Yeah that's a cowardly. Not sure what your definition is but that's a craven act.

Is This Why Obama Wanted that Des Moines Register Interview Off the Record?

Recall that in the third debate, President Obama claimed that he did not come up with the sequesters and that “it will not happen.” It has already been reported that his administration did come up with the sequester. Now, in that Des Moines Register interview that was briefly off the record, he touts the sequester as a means by which he will achieve spending cuts.

OBAMA: “So when you combine the Bush tax cuts expiring, the sequester in place, the commitment of both myself and my opponent — at least Governor Romney claims that he wants to reduce the deficit — but we’re going to be in a position where I believe in the first six months we are going to solve that big piece of business.” [emphasis added]

He made this statement the day after he said that the sequester “will not happen,” while he was mocking his own defense secretary’s warning that the cuts would dangerously shrink the military. Is this what the president has taken to calling “Romnesia?” Or just plain old dishonesty?
