Mike wondered what new experiences 2018 would bring for him. Mike had a flourishing medical practice but the very busy work life took its toll on his personal life in 2017. He was looking forward to the board review conference for the few months, and it finally arrived. He needed to take his medical re-certification board exam in April and thought a review course would be a good idea given it was 10 years since completing his medical residency. The conference was in San Diego and he thought the warm weather would be a nice break from the winter weather. Besides, he wondered if an opportunity would arise of meeting a woman at the conference who was looking to relieve the stresses of a life in medicine.

Mike's marriage was fine, but his wife had gotten busy with her own activities and the lives of their two children. They had drifted apart, but it did not seem to bother her. Their sex life had become routine, putting hopes of meeting someone in the back of Mike's mind - he would be looking for an opportunity but did not have high hopes anything would happen. He walked outside the airport and enjoyed the warm San Diego weather. His flight was only a couple of hours, but the seating was always cramped for his 6'2 frame. A short jog on the beach would help the stiffness in his legs.

As he entered information on his phone for Uber, he heard a woman asking someone the best way to get to Hotel Del Coronado - that was the same hotel he was staying at and where the conference was being held. Mike thought he would be nice and walked over, introduced himself. "Hello - I overheard you ask about Hotel del Coronado. I was just requesting an Uber ride there and would be happy to share a ride with you. My name is Michael . . ."

Mike watched her turn around and start walking away. Strike one, he thought to himself. His phone alerted him that his Uber Black ride was arriving with a driver named Stefanie - Mike walked to the curbside as he looked for the Audi A6; a black Audi pulled along the curbside. An attractive woman stepped out of the car - "Are you Stefanie?" I asked with my iPhone in hand. She smiled with an acknowledging look on her face. . . .
