tell me your favorite and why.

my all time favorite board game is RISK. hands down. settlers of catan has taken that spot around the family table in recent years, although pandemic is veering for a takeover - mainly because it can be played with only two players and is collaborative and exciting. now i want to know your favorite games to play. please leave video and electronic games out of this. thank you!

When I was young we played a lot of card games like rummy. I don't think we could afford board games until later.

I always loved Clue and Battleship.

Monopoly is fun, but it always takes forever.

My kids are young, so we can't get into some of the traditional board games yet, but we do play UNO together as a family, a few times a week.

It's fun, and it provided a nice way to teach them how to behave and be good about losing a game, and - equally important - how to be a gracious winner.

classics. i enjoy games that last just under an hour. clue and battleship are classics. i used to have both.

i remember traveling with my grandparents around the country in their motor home, playing card games like gin rummy. my other grandmother had an entire closet in her house dedicated to board games. those were the days.

candyland and sorry!

those are favorites from my childhood. we were able to play with my younger siblings.

UNO is a classic as well. it is good to play with the babes. cherished family time.

monopoly is a game i never won, except the time i played with the kids, and decided to teach them the ways of the world. then i kicked ass, and everyone was broke but me. not a favorite of mine.

My kid has gotten into Jenga (we picked up the Tower of Terror set in Disney). I have to admit it's kind of fun because there is that element of surprise if/when the tower falls. But before this it was always Chutes and Ladders and Candyland.

I'm ready for him to be old enough to play Life though. I don't know why I love that stupid game - I mean the last thing I want to teach him is a car full of babies is a good idea.

jenga is awesome! balance is always a lesson well learned.

i remember life from my grandmother's closet. seriously. order pandemic. i would say ages 10+, but totally doable on a date night in/ kids went to bed early. before that, chutes and ladder and candyland are queen.

The Tower of Terror series has tasks on some of the blocks like remove one block from the bottom three rows. Does regular Jenga have that? Not that I need the help or anything ;)

Scrabble
Hand and Foot (card game)

And glad you clarified Hand and Foot is a card game - because in my world that's a disease! Now I must Google this Hand and Foot game.....

Memory and Uno with the youngster.
Triominos and checkers with the in-laws.

My SIL and I have gotten into playing Cashflow. Love it.

Not yet mentioned that I play with the munchkins Life, Trouble, checkers, Yahtzee, Chinese checkers, Backgammon and chess. I like teaching them not only about good gamesmanship, but also how to strategize.

Newer games we play are Headbandz, Dixit and...

Soon they will learn more card games.

never heard of Headbandz or Dixt. i will look into these. i fucking love chinese checkers! this goes on the list immediately.

I played unexploded cow recently, it was kind of fun, not too complicated.

i laughed the first sentence in.

i love you, noor.

I also love Apples to Apples with adults, although I saw they have a kid-friendly version out now. I've heard Cards against Humanity can be pretty entertaining for adult too.

I think we asked for the Headbandz game for Christmas. Anything to slow down the video game obsession!

hand and foot
sequence
i am a total virgin.
details?

Here's a link for Hand and Foot. I'd never heard of it until I moved to Michigan.

SEQUENCE is a board of different card pictures in rows, you can play your marker on any card you hold on your hard, like bingo. Once you get a sequence of five you win...Unless your playing pairs, then it's 2 sets of a sequence.

i am on the verge of crashing.

i can't wait to investigate all the new games.

thank you all.

also - how young is too young to give cards against humanity as a gift?
