In a bit of true irony Republican Governor Phil Bryant tried to make Mississippi the "safest place in America for an unborn child," by banning abortions after 15 weeks of gestation. This is the same state that has the worst infant mortality rates, so yes, it is the least safe place in America for a child to be born. (Also the state with the shortest life expectancy at 74.7 years) You can't make this shit up.

Definitely the pinnacle of Redmerica.

That being said, I've driven through most of the "Deep South" states at one tme or another.

True, their standard of living may not be as high as the so -called uppity Northern states, however the cost of living seems to be substantially lower, the people seem to be friendlier, the rural countryside is certainly much more picturesque than anything one would see in your deteriorated, slum ridden, drug infested cities, and one with a moderate income can hope to purchase a modest home with a small parcel of land for much less than one can hope for in your crime-ridden cities.
