Nearly twelve years have passed since Rukia Kuchiki met Ichigo Kurosaki.

The thirteen Gotei squads have evolved into the fourteen squads; Ichigo having become captain of the Living World's first squadron, following in the footsteps of his father and bringing the title of captain back into the Kurosaki family. Changes have also been made inside the existing squads; the fates of their members unfolding along the years and also bringing in new faces.

Yes, I realize that's a very basic premise. It'll be expanded on more with the players who come aboard. Have an idea for a new evil? PM me.I'd love to see what's brewing out there...

Name: Yachiru Kusajishi
Age: Unknown (seems 19)
Zanpakutō: Momoirokitsune (pink fox)
Rank: Captain of Squad 11
Abilities: Enhanced strength, enhanced speed (rarely needs to use actual shunpo), enhanced spiritual energy and an infiltration expert

Bio:
Yachiru learned many things from the man who raised her. Even when Kenpachi first took in the young girl, she showed no fear towards violence, and continues to do so. Saved from her certain death in Rukongai by Kenpachi, she seemed to be the only person the man ever spoke kindly to and showed actual affection towards, revealing that there truly was a softer side to the man deemed insane by so many others. As Kenpachi advanced as a Shinigami, Yachiru continued to stay at his side, earning her title of lieutenant of the 11th squad. Though she seemed the odd one out in possibly the most violent of the thirteen squads, anyone who angered the tiny girl was quick to learn that she truly did take after her caretaker.During much of her youth, she relied on Zaraki for protection, but only as she continued to strengthen and develop her own fighting abilities.

As years passed, age never phased the seemingly forever petite girl; her mind and hormones growing without her. It was Yuchiru herself that discovered on one of her stealth wanderings of the Seireitei the secret of allowing her body to take on an age more suitable for the now mature young woman inside. Exploring through the Shinigami research institute, she found some of the work created by the former president of the institute; Kisuke Urahara, only to be discovered by the president at the time, Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Chased from the building by the infuriated captain, she hid away in one of her tunnels beneath the Kuchiki property and stashed the prize she had snagged, debating on if she truly wanted to use it. This secret remained hidden away for some time, Yachiru enjoying her spry size for as long as she could.

It wasn't until Kenpachi was sent into battle against a hollow threatening the Seireitei that the decision finally came for her. Watching from the sidelines, cheering for her hero, she had expected everything to work out as it usually did- Kenny's victory over his foe, and their own celebrating lap along the rooftops. But things weren't the same. The expected conclusion never happened; instead, an event that she had never thought could ever happen... Zaraki was struck down. Yachiru's horror left her paralyzed as she watched the scene before her, her beloved captain laying on the ground in his own blood. The fact he bled wasn't what frightened her, but that he confessed his own pain. Later that evening he told her that he felt his years of battles taking their toll upon him, and that he felt a new face would soon be looking to take his place. The sadness in his voice made her decision confirmed; she would become the next captain of the Eleventh squad, in the same way he had and make him proud.

Personality:
Yachiru usually seems a very happy-go-lucky girl that is obsessed with sweets and having fun, and who also seems to think everyone is deserving of a nickname. However, when she's in a bad mood, everyone knows it- and not just from the scowl on her face. Her aggravation can be felt in the overwhelming surge of spiritual energy that radiates from the petite girl, only being alleviated when her temper is brought back under control. Like her mentor, she enjoys a good fight, and can sometimes be found instigating others in the cheeriest of tones to try and get someone to spar with her. Unfortunately, she also has the same idea on what 'gentle' is as her caretaker did...

Zanpakuto:
Having learned her shikai only a few years ago, she rarely uses it, only turning to it when seriously outnumbered. Instead, she chooses to rely on her personal abilities like her mentor. She refuses to learn her bankai, insisting that if Kenpachi didn't need it, neither does she. Her shikai is "Play, Momoirokitsune"... Which sends her zanpakuto into streamers of sharded wire, each of which are razor sharp and twines its enemy.

I am willing to change her background if someone was hoping to take on Kenpachi. However, you better have a dang good profile for me to do so! ;)

I thought this OOC was posted already. Wasn't it?

Perhaps I am crazy.

If I am welcome, I would love to be a part of an idea like this. I was thinking of a pre-made character. That I thought I posted on the other OOC...if it existed.

*scratches head*

It's cool if that doesn't work though, just let me know. Same for if you feel my style won't work for the thread.

No, I had put one up a few months ago.
I just felt the need to repost it.

I'm pretty sure I had given your char the ok then, Armphid... That Yachiru was gonna have fun gnawing his head. :p

You had, looking back at the thread. I shall post him here again, to make sure he's all right.

Like I said then, I made him with the idea that Unohana is still Captain of Squad 4 and that Isane (who's the woman that performed konso on him) is still her lieutenant. Though, of course, that's subject to your change and/ or approval.

Here's the reposted profile!

Name: Isamu Takeuchi
AKA: The Rebel of Squad 4, The Mad Wolf, Whitey*, Half-breed*, White Boy*, That Crazy Fucker**
Age: 32, appears to be 19
Occupation: Shinigami, Political Agitator, Masseuse (Hey, everyone needs a hobby).

Appearance: Isamu grew up with a healthy diet and plenty of exercise. His time at the Shinigami Academy has only strengthened and honed his body. He stands at 5' 11" and has a wiry, graceful build. Isamu is a Eurasian, his father is an American and his mother Japanese. His skin tone is noticeably more Caucasian than oriental, and his eyes look more rounded. His body is all taut skin and well defined muscle, though he does have a few scars; one on his right shoulder, one on his left thigh, and another on his left side, just under the ribs. He was a tattoo on each hand, across the knuckles. On his right, it reads "veritas (truth)" and on his left "equitas (justice)." His hair is a reddish brown, combed but styled only by the wind, falling to his jawline. His eyes are gold brown, and remind many who see them of a wolf's eyes. His features are strong and rugged, handsome to some, his skin a pale Caucasian hue. Though he has been "alive" for 32 years, he looks as though he is in his late teens.

He wears the typical shinigami robes, but instead of sandals, he wears sturdy boots, and usually rolls the sleeves up to about elbow length. Embroidered on the back of his shihakushos (most of the ones he owns, done at his own expense), is a US flag. As a member of Squad 4, he also carries a bag of medical supplies over one shoulder.

Character Personality: Isamu is driven by principles of justice, fairness, and honesty. He is honest to a fault, willing to tell truth to power and say things that may not be kind or are unpleasant because it's true. Though often serious, he has a caustic, dry, sardonic humor that often makes itself known. He despises those who push others around, bullies most of all, and won't hesitate to stand up to such people. Isamu is direct and confrontational, rarely mincing words or backing down. His sometimes harsh and brusque manner hides an idealistic and romantic heart that is often disappointed with the reality of life. He loves to fight, possessing a love of battle that is like that of Squad 11. He tolerates teasing and playful insults from his friends or from pretty women (He has a real weakness for lovely females), but anyone else is likely to get punched.

Zanpaku-to: Hitoshirezu no Daimyo (Veiled Lord). Isamu's soul cutter appears as a normal katana most of the time; though it is extremely heavy for anyone other than Isamu who holds it.

When the spirit of the sword materializes, it appears as a humanoid figure swathed in black cloth that gleams with tiny points of light inside (stars), with no part of the being beneath being visible. Veiled Daimyo wears a mirrored mask that reflects the face of whoever is looking at it, thought it is slightly distorted

-Shikai: With the command, "Bring them to their knees, Veiled Daimyo" Isamu's zanpakuto is released. It changes from a katana into a medieval European style warhammer. It is four feet long in total, the haft made of an unidentifiable wood that has a dark cherry finish. Metal struts run down two sides of it to affix the head of the weapon. The butt of the weapon has a metal cap and a two inch spike on the end. It has a hammer head that has four small flanges to better maximize the weapon's impact. Opposite the hammer head is a slightly curved six inch long pick head, used to pierce deep or to snag weapons/clothing/etc. There is also a five inch spike on top of the head so it can be used to thrust and stab. The metal of the hammer is a dully gleaming silvery steel, the head having the kanji for "justice" inlaid in polished bronze on both sides.

Veiled Daimyo has two powers (so far) in this form. It creates a powerful gravitational attraction between Isamu and his foe(s). This prevents them from fleeing or staying out of his range as well as pulling their defenses and strikes off course to create openings. Aerial maneuvers are particularly affected. Secondly, Veiled Daimyo can alter it's own weight by changing the gravitational force on it. It can be either incredibly light or heavy (weigh as little as 1/100th of it's original weight, or up to 100 times it's original weight). It can shift between them in an instant and does not need to be touched by Isamu to do this, letting it be thrown great distances and hit with terrific force.

Abilities: Isamu is strong and tough, and faster than most people expect him to be. He is a skilled swordsman and unarmed combatant. As a member of Squad 4, he also knows make healing and restorative kidou powers, as well as being knowledgeable of anatomy and medicine. He has trained in both aspects of kidou as well, and is capable, though not exceptionally so.

History: Isamu Takeuchi is a second generation Japanese-American. After his first year of college studying history, philosophy, and pre-law, Isamu went overseas to visit his family in Japan. The day before he was set to return home to the US, Isamu was hit on the sidewalk by a drunk driver, and died. His spirit lingered, the suddenness of the incident keeping him from passing. He discovered by following his uncles, aunts, and cousins, that the man who hit him was the son of a Diet member, and that the matter was being brushed over. His anger at this injustice started to build, and had things remained unchanged, he may have become a Hollow. However, one night on the full moon, a shinigami appeared to him. A kindly and beautiful woman with gray hair, she explained what was happening, and told him that he had to pass on or he would become a monster. She promised him that the place he was going to was one of peace and happiness. Isamu submitted to her, undergoing konso and appearing in Soul Society.

It didn't take long in Rukongai for Isamu to see that he had been lied to, and been the victim of another injustice. Far from peaceful and happy, the people in his part Rukongai were poor, and life there was rough and often violent. All the while, the shinigami and the wealthy or favored lived in the seireitei while the masses suffered. The injustice rankled him, as did the inept handling of the many souls that drifted in. Deciding his death would have meaning where his life hadn't, Isamu pressed for change in his neighborhood, to the point of banding the neighbors together to run out the thugs who terrorized them. It was during this that he first accidentally created his zanpakuto. The people in his section of Rukongai, as thanks, pooled their resources and got him admitted to the Academy. Isamu entered, determined to become a Captain so that he could change Soul Society from the place of hypocritical incompetence to a place that was honest and just.

Upon graduating, he insisted on being placed in Squad 4 despite his skill at fighting and his obvious talent and eagerness for it. He chose this because out of all the Gotei 13 squads, Squad 4 is one of the most important to the functioning of Soul Society (healing and caring for the injured, as well as handling all logistics) but gets the least recognition and respect. He is ready, and even eager, for members of other Squads to try to bully him or his squad members when he's around. He'll teach them what strength is, and what it's for. Even in death, it feels good to put a bully in his place. He is currently ranked at 5th seat in the Squad, though he is far more powerful than that, having been demoted due to his fights with members of other Squads and speaking out against official policies he disagrees with.

* Common insults from members of other Squads, particularly Squad 11.
** Common reference to Isamu after he's kicked the ass of whoever called him the above.

I'll bite, but only if Lily plays Matsumoto to my Hitsugaya (Aged slightly).

*pervy grin*

Hey I wanted to play Hitsugaya last time but the thread never took off. :/ Honestly that's the only way I can see me playing this time since I can't think of anything original.

Name: Dante Kojiro
Age: Unknown, appears to be in his early 20's
Zanpakutō: Kuroshiro (Black and White)
Rank: 4th Seat 11th Squad
Abilities: Enhanced Strength, Slightly Enhanced Speed, Battle Hardy (He takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin')

Bio:
Dante talks very little about his past when it comes right down to it, but it seems that at some point in his early life he became a fight merchant, wandering around and beating down anyone who he was paid to fight with. Soon enough it was discovered that the reason that he was such a good fighter actually had a little bit to do with the fact that he had the makings of a shinigami.

While training to become a shinigami he developed some very moderate skill in Kidou, but didn't spend much time on those arts because of his belief that if he were to be fighting someone he should be doing it face to face, and at a close enough range that their blades and fists could be used.

Where he really began to shine was in the training of using a sword for battle. While it wasn't the same as hitting someone with ones fists, it seemed to rub off rather well with Dante, giving him the exhilaration of the battles that he used to have as a fight merchant.

In his graduation, when he became overzealous, he took a strike to the right eye, but never one to let a simple wound like this effect him, continued to battle on as hard as ever, refusing medical attention until he had crushed his opponent. When he had finally been taken away for the medical attention that he needed, it was discovered that replacing his eye through normal methods was going to be rather difficult. Luckily for him the Research and Development Institute had been working on this sort of problem and used him as a bit of a test subject, fitting him with a new eye. The eye seems to work fine, but other than seeing, the things that it does and can do are a mystery, even to Dante, which is a large part of the reason that he wears his eye patch since he doesn't want to give himself an unfair advantage of his opponents. He also wears the eye patch because he views his false eye as ugly, and he doesn't feel that it matches the rest of his face.

When he joined the 11th division he felt that he had found a place that he could call home. This was a place where everyone seemed to be completely dedicated to battle and combat, and it was here that Dante felt he would be given the opportunity to find an eternal rival and do battle with them.

Personality:
Often a bit of a joker, he enjoys a good time, and a good drink. He is also a bit of a battle junkie, but really, he doesn't think it is any more extreme than the rest of squad 11. He tends to become a little bit obsessive over some things, such as finding his eternal rival, and has sometimes been likened to a bulldog in his inability to let go of something once he has grasped it (figuratively, and sometimes literally). When he is in battle, he can often be described as over the top, often casting aside worries for his personal safety in the search of victory.

Zanpakuto:
His Zanpakuto is actually a pair of twin blades. His shikai, "Scream Kuroshiro", turns one of the blades black, while turning the other one white, also increasing the thickness of the blades, and the length by a slight amount. When swung in their released form the blades can launch destructive cutting energy. He tends not to use his released form, viewing it as mostly aesthetic and pointless, but can sometimes be pushed to releasing them and showing that really they are impressive whatever form they take.

Yay!
Anyway, if you'd prefer I be in a seat that isn't the 4th seat, feel free to make that change. I chose fourth because I didn't think it would impact story or anything if I did, because I wouldn't be stealing a spot that looked like it should belong to someone else. I would be honored if you wanted me to be lieutenant.

Also, if my picture is too big, just tell me and I'll turn it into a link so it doesn't stretch a page or anything.

Blue-
Looks good! Now Yachiru has someone to help her pick on Isamu! :)

Reiha-
Gimme profile. :p

Soru & Ahren-
Hey!! No char dibs fighting!!!

I'm glad you like it. I just felt really inspired to do someone with an attitude like they belonged in the 11th squad for once. An obsessive fighter should be fun.

http://th07.deviantart.com/fs13/300W/f/2007/114/e/9/___Ishida___White_Knight____by_orin.jpg
Name: Uryū Ishida
Age: unknown, appears to look and act like he's 21 ( but is obviously older- As old as Ichigo maybe?)
Zanpakutō: None. However is currently using the Quincy bow, "Lone Sparrow on a Silver Cliff " and "Seele Schneiders" Arrows.
Rank: Last of the Quincy race.
Abilities: ( Currently) Ishida uses a special , energy-powered bow and arrow to defeat his enemies with ease. The bow is shaped like a spiderweb and is known to be able to shoot up to 1,200 arrows at once. The Seel Schneider's are special, soul- cutting arrows that can be used as swords. Without these special tools, Ishida's pretty useless.

Bio:
Uryū Ishida prides himself with the title of "The last Quincy" and literally; lives his life by those words. Known to have a strong sense of justice, Ishida will go out of his way to help those in need, especially women. As a child; Ishida trained under his master and grandfather, Sōken Ishida. The boy showed great promise. However; the days of the Ishida men were short lived one day when Ishida's grandfather was attacked and killed by hollows- right in front of him!
This is when Uryū's dislike for Soul Reaper's grew. Not only did the reapers keep his grandfather under constant watch, they were also too slow to rescue Sōken in time. For the longest time, Ishida truly believed that it was in the Soul Reaper's agenda to rid of the Quincy clan forever.

Eventually, Ishida figures out that both Rukia and Ichigo are soul reapers and becomes outraged that they would set foot, let alone, in the same classroom as him. Out of spite anger, Ishida challenged Ichigo to a Hollow-hunt. Whoever defeated the most hollows within a day, would be the superior. Little to his knowledge, that the bait attracted too many hollows; and eventually led them to ally up to defeat a Menos Grande.

After their minor victory, Rukia is targeted by two soul reapers who wish to send her back to the soul society. Ishida; being the simple-mind that he can be, stood up to Renji Abarai, only to be defeated in a matter of minutes. During Rukia's capture, Ishida joined Ichigo and the others to save Rukia; pushing aside any ill-thoughts of the two soul reapers. At this time, Ishida realizes he needs to get stronger and within a few days, masters the use of a sanrei glove; giving him incredible strength and power.

During his stay in the soul society, Ishida ( to his advantage) gets spilt up with Orihime, and does his best to protect her. For a while, they go un-detected until they are spotted by 12th Division captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi. It is then, he learns of the insane captain's past plans with Ishida's grandfather. Out of anger, Ishida attacks the captain, only to fail at first. Eventually; he has no choice but to take off his glove. Doing so, would increase his attack power and win the duel- but at a cost. Too much power released would result in Ishida losing his Quincy power's forever. A sacrifice, Uryū was willing to make.

After defeating the captain, and escaping death; Ishida was captured easily by Kaname Tōsen, the blind, 9th division captain and brought in, re-uniting with the rest of the crew. Eventually; all are freed by the 11th division squad captain, Kenpachi Zaraki. Ishida and the others eventually meet up with Ichigo and the saved Rukia, and return to the human world.

When returning home, Ishida finds his father, Ryūken Ishida who is extremely dissapointed in his son's actions. His father offers to restore his powers, under the condition that he would never interact with any soul reapers ever again. Agreeing to the terms, Ishida regained his powers; however breaking his agreement in order to save a captured Orihime. Allying up once again with Ichigo and the others, he vows to defeat his enemies and virtually save the day. During this, he ends up trying to keep Yammy away from interfering in Ichigo's battles all while trying to protect Orihime from Ulquiorra.

The team eventually defeats their enemies, returning home. However; Ishida realizes that his natural urge to protect Orihime might be something else. Trying to gather up the courage to ask her out, Ishida fails; looking for someway to ease the process.

Personality:

Ishida is to simply put, awkward and very nerdy. An excellent student in his studies, back in highschool he achieved the highest marks in his classes; however, gaining him 0 popularity with anyone else. He has an unusual knack for sewing and can create virtually anything with a needle and thread. Often shy and very quiet, Ishida tries to hard to act "cool", often failing miserably. Ishida lives his life by the words of "being the pride of the Quincy" and will go out of his way to protect any female in need of his assistance. He believes in not taking one's life unless they're hollows, but will if he is beyond provoked.

To stand out from the soul reaper's, Ishida insists on wearing white when fighting. He also prefers to wear clothes different from everybody else. Often snarky and rude, his attitude changes signifigantly when around Orihime.

Ishida is currently in University studying to become a doctor- like his father.

Zanpakuto: Being not of the Soul Reaper class, Ishida does not have a zanpakuto. Instead; carries around a energy-bound bow and arrow. Eventually, learning that he needed to get stronger, Ishida mastered the use of the glove "sanrei glove" by resistance training. When he was forced to lose all of his Quincy powers, Ishida returned back on the scene with a new bow and arrow duo, increasing his speed, attack and overall power. He also managed to swipe a pair of Seele Schneiders- arrows that can be used as powerful swords.

Well I am curious about how we're dealing with aging, since it's pretty up in the air about how it works in Soul Society. Most residents have barely aged physically in a hundred years, let alone 13.

For Soul Society, I'd say its no aging physically.

The only reason Yachiru (and Hitsugaya, if he does it) have taken an aged physical appearance is because of the serum Yachiru swiped. There'd certainly be more of it... Yachiru would have offered him some, most likely.

But I leave that up to you.

I'm basically assuming that Ishida's 26 now, considering I think he was 15 when he met Ichigo & Rukia.

I'm making him act & look slightly less younger. As if he hasn't fully "matured" yet. :p

Name: Yoruichi Shihōin
Age: Unknown, but older than Byakuya Kuchiki.
Zanpakutō: Has never been seen with one, however in the past, has been known to have carried around a kodachi-like blade.
Rank: Was captain of the 2nd division.
Abilities: Yoruichi's most famous ability is turning into a black cat at will. Skilled with the art of "Flash Steps", a form of high-speed movement. Yoruichi also uses the "Flash Release" technique- a technique that combines hand-to-hand combat and kidō abilities. She also has used the technique, "Flash cry". She is also seen about with many nifty items.

Bio: Yoruichi's life seems to be covered mostly in mystery. A former Tenshi Heisou Ban of the Shihouin family and also the former Guundanchou (Head of the Military) in Onmitsukidou, Yoruichi prides herself by not letting many know that she is in fact; a noble.

Yoruichi is also best known in Soul Society as "Shunshin", Yoruichi, or "Goddess of Flash",basically for her mastery in the art of shunpo (flash step). While serving in the soul society, She quickly became the rank of 2nd Division Captain of the Gotei 13, Commander of the Onmitsukidō, and Corps Commander of the Corrections Corps.

Yoruichi is well respected, being the first woman to hold the position of being the 22nd generational head of the Shihōin family, earning her much respect in Soul Society in all of her positions. While Yoruichi was the Onmitsukidō commander, she took in Soi Fon as a guard and became her mentor and friend. She taught Soi Fon most of the techniques she knew. As a result, Soi Fon succeeded her as head of the Onmitsukidō after Yoruichi's escape from the Soul Society.

About 110 years prior to the current time, Yoruichi had recommended that Kisuke Urahara then her 3rd Seat to be appointed to the recently opened position of Captain of the 12th Division, after the former Captain, Kirio Hikifune was promoted. Yoruichi constantly coached Urahara in the best way to be assertive and confident in his new role. It is also said that Yoruichi taught Byakuya some basic moves, forming an alliance with the future captain.

It is not said why Yoruichi decided to leave the soul society. But when she did; she eventually helped Kisuke Urahara and Tessai Tsukabishi in their escape as well, disguising herself as a orange-clad ninja. It never bothered her that she had left her life as a noblewoman behind.

Eventually, Yoruichi returns to help Ichigo and the others save Rukia, training them to use their powers and master them within a short period of time. She leads them into the soul society when they are ready; assisting them in a battle or two along the way. During their stay in the soul society; Yoruichi reveals herself to Ichigo of her true form, frightening the boy as well as confusing him of her true gender.

After Ichigo's minor fight with Byakuya; Yoruichi proceeds to teach Ichigo on using his bankai. She also informs him of Urahara's true idenity as well as her own. Skeptical at first of Ichigo not being able to achieve his bankai within three days, her doubts are mistaken; and as a victory, lets him borrow her Tentōken. (a cape that is capable of allowing its user to fly by injecting some spirit power into it.)

During this time, Yoruichi is forced into a battle with her friend and now former Captain of the 2nd division and Commander-in-Chief of the Onmitsukidō., Soi Fon.
She learns quickly that her friend has become cold and bitter of Yoruichi's escape from the soul society and refuses to forgive her for leaving and breaking their promise of always protecting each other.

Using her technique "Flash Cry", Yoruichi defeats her friend, which somewhat jog's Soi Fon's memory and respect for her sempai. After the swift battle, both join together to help save Rukia, resulting in them both trying to stop Captain Aizen's motives. The overall attempt to stop him, however, was interupted by the Gillians' Negación, resulting in Yoruichi later returning to the living world with the others.

During this time, Yoruichi also helps Ichigo and the others in the pursue of the Bount, the Espada and helps to aid Soi Fon into understanding of what was truly going on with Kasumiōji family.

Personality:
Yoruichi is as intelligent and witty as she is serious and wise. Knowledgable with the Soul Society, she lets on, pretending that she never was of noble blood. Gutsy and rash, she has no problem being in her own skin around Ichigo, and takes pride on seeing him embarrassed whenever she can.

Yoruichi tends to avoid battles, preferring to help after a fight is over, but she will step in if she thinks her side cannot win. She was responsible for training Chad and Orihime prior to their entrance into Soul Society. She also supervised Ichigo Kurosaki's Bankai training using the methods developed by Kisuke Urahara.

Yoruichi prefers to drink milk, which fits with her practice of transforming into a cat much of the time and often likes to play and goof about.

Zanpakuto: Yoruichi's zanpakuto is a mystery as she has never used it infront of anyone. It is known that she does have one and even has achieved bankai. However; she would much prefer to use hand-to-hand combat, Flash Cry and Flash Steps.

Well I am curious about how we're dealing with aging, since it's pretty up in the air about how it works in Soul Society. Most residents have barely aged physically in a hundred years, let alone 13.

It seems to almost be random. Yoruichi hasn't really changed at all from the way she appeared in the flashback issues of the manga set 110 years ago, but on the other hand Byakuya grew into a man who looks like he's in his late-20's when he looked about 9 or 10 in the flashback.

We also see Nanao in the flashback arc and she's, like, five but then a hundred years later she's a young woman. So...it doesn't seem like there's a steady rate of growth or increase.

If we want to bother with a mechanic for it, that's fine. It's worth considering that it may have something to do with the person's concept of self and the state/nature of their soul. *shrugs*

If we want to bother with a mechanic, that's fine. It's worth considering that it may have something to do with the person's concept of self and the state/nature of their soul. *shrugs*

I agree.

Well there are changes in the appearances of most characters during the 100 year flashback arc. For instance, Yoruichi's hair is shorter, as is Ukitake's. Shunsui doesn't have his full beard/chin fuzz thing, etc. Minor things but they are symbolic. For one, it makes some of them look a lot younger without really changing their physical appearance too much.

Also, the entire flashback about the Vaizard wasn't one period of time. It was set at different points, quite a few years apart. I think the last one which was 30 or so years in the past was the one that showed the younger Nanao.

I've always thought that the aging was slowed. Every 10 or so years the characters would physically age 4-5 years. I've put that theory towards most of the characters (Nanao, Toshiro, Gin, etc) and it seems about right. I could be wrong, but it seems to fit. I do like the idea that they can alter their own aging. Seeing as they are spirits in the first place, it doesn't seem too far fetched.

A couple years back when I ran my own (decently sized) Bleach RPG forum, that formula is what we went with for aging our own characters. Granted it was an AU where none of the canon characters from the anime/manga existed, but the formula still seemed to work alright.

For Soul Society, I'd say its no aging physically.

The only reason Yachiru (and Hitsugaya, if he does it) have taken an aged physical appearance is because of the serum Yachiru swiped. There'd certainly be more of it... Yachiru would have offered him some, most likely.

Lily is the boss and I think this works anyway, so it's fine by me. I was just having fun talking about the ideas involved. :)

I'm fine either way. I'm human. I aged. It's all good for me :p

( Pesky Soul Reapers.. always making everything so gorram hard!)

Well, really we have seen some examples of slight amounts of aging in Soul Society, because there were episodes where they explored the history of Rukia and Renji, in which both looked to be much younger than they are in the main series. Regrettably I forget which episode this is, but whatever.

I like the idea of age being a state of mind, which would explain why some people look old while some people still look young and spry, but that does sort of throw a wrench into the "why does Yachiru need a serum" plot, and really I kind of like that...

If I'd like to propose an idea, it would be that aging does occur, but only to a certain point, and that point, and/or the rate at which someone gets to that point is different for every person, explaining why some people age, and why some others don't. Maybe you link the whole aging thing to the point at which they found their zanpakutou, which actually would cover all of the things that happened in the series, since the child form Renji and Rukia are only seen pre-becoming shinigami.

I'm sure someone will find a hole in my plan, but I like it because it nicely wraps up plot holes, and likely because I am incredibly tired.

In other news...

Ah, Princesssexci! Someone is stalking me!
