Netflix Series Which Incorrectly Featured Cleopatra as Black Woman Gets Worst Audience Score in TV History

The Netflix series about Cleopatra, which changed the race of the title character from Greek/Macedonian to an African black woman, has suffered the worst audience score in TV history.

As The Daily Fetched reported last month, the government of Egypt has slammed Netflix for the portrayal, accusing them of falsely rating history for politics.

The secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mostafa Waziri, said the Netflix show wrongly Featuring Cleopatra was a black woman represents a “falsification of Egyptian history and a blatant historical fallacy.”

"The issue is the conceptualization of what purports to be a historical documentary saying that Cleopatra was a black “African queen,” as this season was supposed to be the first in a series covering different queens from the continent. But there is no terribly credible evidence that Cleopatra was black, and instead, she was of Macedonian Greek descent. The country of Egypt, in particular, has taken offense to the show altering their history this dramatically and portraying it as something they believe is non-factual in a series that is meant to be a documentary."

We've all seen Hamilton, so this is not new. It's always ridiculous on its face (no pun intended).

Projection is what the left does, that's how they came up with this dumb idea, and yes we will always be laughing at your efforts to rewrite history and lie to humanity.
The left didn't come up with the idea. Black artists decided they would like to be represented more and so they are.

I remember back when the right gave us the whole "I don't see race" bullshit.

The actions and words of historical people is what is important. Who portrays it, white, black, yellow or purple shouldn't matter.

The bad rating has nothing to do with race and everything to do with it being a bad show.

It's all about race with Egyptian audiences. The Museums are full of various pharaohs dominating and slaying their Nubian enemies. That would be the equivalent of depicting FDR as a Japanese man in some future movie about his life.

Black people bother you. We get it.

It always amuses me when someone like you gets their tighty-whiteys in a twist over a casting choice for a tv show, and based off what logic? If it was actually going to be historically accurate, they should've hired a middle eastern actress for it not a white woman by any stretch. Same thing for Christian movies hiring blonde or brunette white boys to play Jesus for them...and you know...Jesus wasn't caucasian.

Most people just don't watch a show they don't care much for. Many don't even tell people on the internet that they do it. Several don't even bring up ratings for said show either because they don't care.

Weird.

They have a yuge impact on Netflix's decisions and ratings.

:D :nana:

The thing is I too was critical of the casting choice of this or the little mermaid show on Disney+, But unlike the OP I don't see it as another front in the fucking stupid culture war bullshit he humps the leg of here everyday. I see it as a weird casting choice of a tv show I may or may not watch...who knows maybe the actress in either are amazing in their roles.

Also I'm thinking the conclusion of bad ratings for the show is because of the casting choice they made for the lead actress is rather strained at best. The reality is there are tons of reasons why a tv show gets cancelled in which the casting of actors is only one small factor.

I'm always amused with the deflections of the clueless. Cleopatra VII's genealogy is of historical record, she was of Macedonian Greek descent.

I just watched the first episode of Good Omens on Amazon and they showed Adam and Eve as black. I can only imagine the Christian backlash on that. :ROFLMAO:

Just curious where were you when 'Gods of Egypt' was released?

Never knew so many people were experts on the Ptolemaic Dynasty. Nothing on the site you link at the top about Romans always being portrayed as white, or scenes where a Middle Eastern Jewish Jesus looks like an extra member of the Bee Gees.

As much as I dislike a lot of Netflix shows, sometimes I think they love the controversy. It makes people watch so they can hate. In the end, it’s a movie, have a Bud and chill.

There's this, but there's also an industry on the right that combs through movies and tv news looking for topics to get all offended over when its actually not a mountain and its not even a molehill to get upset over. (I.E. Dylan Mulvaney getting a can of Bud Lite with his face on it)

Everyone loves getting offended by everything. It’s a problem when people don’t believe what they stand for, but simply stand for what’s trending. I’m not a fan of the trans movement, as if they are somehow better than real women. I don’t care if you want to dress up, have surgery or wear my favorite lipstick, but stop trying to force other people to accept it. Also stop pretending you can wear a tampon.

Egyptian people are upset about this movie, I don’t have any issue with this. My issue is how we in America believe we own the rights to racism and we get to decide what is and what isn’t. You don’t fight racism by being racist…only in America, sigh. I support people not buying Bud because people voting with their wallets is real power.

It’s shortsighted to frame every argument as right vs left, but it keeps this forum going. We also get our soapbox moments. Like this one.
