I find the logic in most stories involving blackmail to be inconsistent, to say the least. You have a victim who fears exposure of some guilty secret so much that they reluctantly agree to do whatever the blackmailer demands. Okay, fine. But the demands usually involve humiliation in front of the very people the victim is trying to keep from learning their dark secret. Where's the logic in that? Has anybody else noticed this?

Ummm...actually Mensa, no I haven't noticed this, you might be the only one who has, how about a more specific example?

*looking around conspiratorily* And BTW, if you don't want anyone else knowing that you've noticed this, then you'll do exactly as we say.... ;)

Havoc

Nope, haven't noticed it, thought I'm sure you're right about some stories.

By the way -- are you a Mensa member? I was, but I quit because the parties were too damn dull.

What? Another Mensa member? Life member here. Mensa parties don't come close to a housewarming on the Lit bb!

Havoc, go to www.asstr.org and search for "Stacy's Senior Year". You'll see what I mean.

Am I a member of mensa? Yikes! I took the test to see if I could qualify, and passed; but the idea of sitting around with a collection of pedants, discussing the minutiae of esoterica strikes me as the psychological equivalent of chinese water torture. Drip... drip... drip. The only reason I have it as a user name is because the one I normally use was taken. I tried several others but again they were used. It was the first one to be accepted and I don't know why I picked it, part of the darker realms of my psyche perhaps.

I think we'd be surprised at how many of the posters here are either Mensa members or, if not official members, definitely Mensa level in intelligence! Take a look at the threads on favorite authors and which 3 books people would take to an island- neither detail the level of literature you'd expect from the general public.

Makes sense, if you think about it. If the brain is the largest sex organ, than who else would be more likely to congregate here than Mensans! The imagination necessary to enjoy erotica is a natural fit.

And to tie this in to another thread about the differences between our bb identity and our RL identity, in RL only a handful of people know I am a Mensan. Once again I feel more comfortable disclosing my Mensa membership here than I do in RL.

Alas, I am about seven points shy . . . oh, woe.

I'm not quite a Stupid, but Neither am I a Tween . . .

You know what? That's true of me, too. I'm uncomfortable telling people I am (was) a Mensa member (though how often does the quesiton come up, really?). Being in the top 2% of the country I.Q.-wise seems a bit freakish to me. Then again, being able to actually play the piano seems freakish to me -- How the hell do they DO that?

I can juggle knives, walk on my hands, and I do some pretty damn interesting (and scary) things in my magic act, but I CANNOT play an instrument, and I envy anyone who can.

DCL: I find that very interesting, I have great-aunts... great-uncles... grandparents... aunts and uncles; all of whom can play musical instruments... many do it by ear, never having taken a lesson in their life. The innate ability is present in the family and yet when I took music in school it proved to be the biggest disaster imagineable LOL

Cheyenne: You're right about the imagination being neccessary to enjoy erotica but so many seem unable to differentiate between true erotic stories and garden variety sex stories. A good story is a good story but erotica involves the mind as much as the genitals. Male writers, in general, seem to focus on the sex; female writers seem more inclined to reflect on the feelings and emotions. Men tend to be more straightforward and probably more predictable. Women seem more diabolical, devious, and dangerous in the way they deal with erotica, especially when they're doing it to another woman. The old adage of the female being deadlier than the male is probably true. CreamyLady: Seven points? If you were that close, you've nothing to worry about. Men, Real Men, will always look for the complete package in a woman and that means brains; only seven points means you're the' real deal'
