lavender said:I'm really kinda surprised that you guys took me seriously. I was just responding to the fact that EBW said in another thread he would bitch at me if I was talking about soap. You really think I would post this on the board?
Well, bitching about soap got me more responses than talking about frustration in a class. Ah, the way humans communicate.
I always take a look at your threads, Lavender. There's no telling what you'll post about. Better lovers, sensitive guys, etc. This is a serious problem for some people. Ivory is a pure soap, & is the worst in hard water. Other soaps & gels usually have Calgon-type chemicals to neutralize the hardness of the water.
Speaking as an ex- water specialist, it's the impurities in your water that result in soap & detergent residues. The residues make your skin dry & your clothes itchier. Want to try an experiment?
Buy a gallon of distilled water at the store. Wash & rinse one forearm in tap water , & the other in distilled. Y ou may be able to feel, smell, & even taste the difference on your skin. If you use Ivory it's most obvious.( If you think the distilled water hand feels slimy, it's only your natural skin oils, now that you got the soap out of your pores.) It's also interesting to toss a laundered wash-cloth in a bowl with some distilled water& let it soak for a while, just to see how much detergent suds are left in your "clean" laundry.
