Fox News analyst blames low birth rate on teens not having enough kids

An exchange on Fox News raised eyebrows Friday after senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel suggested that part of the United States’ declining fertility rate is tied to fewer teen births, characterizing the drop among people ages 15 to 19 as a “problem.”

He doesn’t want teen girls to delay pregnancy until they’re financially secure and have the right partner:

“Absolutely. We still have 3.6 million births a year,” Siegel replied. “But the problem is teens and young adults from ages 15 to 19, the fertility rate is down 7 percent, and it’s down 70 percent over the last two decades, meaning we’re telling people that are young not to have babies, to wait until they’re in a more stable life situation, until they’re more financially secure. Maybe they haven’t found the right partner.”

Your citizens aren't having babies. The only way your population has been increasing lately is from immigration.

Immigrants are a net positive for your country, from the Irish fleeing the Potato Famine to the Chinese building your railroads to the Jewish refugees from Hitler's Germany (imagine if Donald Trump had kept Einstein out of your country!) to the Latinos picking your crops, working on your building sites and in your meatpacking plants, to Satya Nadella . . .

Without immigrants your tax and hospital bills will go through the roof because you'll have no young workers to support the Social Security and medical treatments of your aging population.
