I switched to the vasectomy....and its great....

My girlfriends used it for a couple years.

it works well, and one ring a month is pretty convenient. the guy can feel it while you have sex, but it doesn't get in teh way or anything. if it falls out you are safe for up to two hours, but you need to put it back in after that.

from a pharmacy point of view only negative is similar to the patch, you are exposed to higher level of estrogen then any pill and that can increase the side effects or atleast the chance that you'll experience them

That's actually not true, from the Nuvaring site:

I use it and so far it is the best birth control I have used. I have horrible memory so only having to change it once a month is a blessing, plus it comes with little stickers to put on your calendar just in case.

On the negative side, it does sometimes come out during more vigorous sex, but it can be out for three hours.

nuvo ring

I used it for a year and loved it! I didn't have any noticable side effects, You can wear it during sex, but a guy can sort of tell it's there. I just took it out for sex after a while it was easier. When I have to get back on birth control, I am so doing the ring.

I love my ring it's awesome. It's so easy not to forget cause of the stickers and everything. I don't think my bf notices when we're having sex (he hasn't said anything) But i know he can if he puts his fingers in. I have never had it fall out either.

I used it for about three months or so. Very simple to use, just don't forget to take it out. It doesn't interfere with sex -oral or penetration. It doesn't change your "taste" either. It's not that I stopped feeling it inside me, it's that I got comfortable with the feeling. I eventually switched to a low-dose pill because my face kept breaking out. I attributed it to the only thing I'd changed in my routine: my birth control. If you have trouble remembering to take your pill, the ring is definitely a good option.

thanks for all of your input!
I'm currently on lo-dose...(ortho tricyclen lo)

but since a few of you said the guy could feel it during vigorous sex, i might pass on it. that's my favorite kind, and I don't think I want to worry about whether it's it or not...

i guess the easiest is the pill. a good way to remember is to take it with your multivitamin!

And, I dont take it the same time every day. I take it when i brush my teeth in the morning, which varies from 7am -11am. No worries so far (but i use condoms too....)

thanks again!

I tried it for a month.

But he could feel it and it came out during sex... and we didn't notice!

So I woke up the next morning drooling on my Nuva Ring and then proceeded to freak out!

I don't recommend it :)

My experience with the ring probably differred from most peoples.

The convenince of it was great! My boyfriend never complained about it, and it rarely fell out. But I started having a lot more intense cramps than normal. So bad that I couldn't walk at times. And I stopped having my period. My doctor said that it was okay, and not to worry about it, but I did. I even went to putting on in every three weeks to try and get rid of the cramps under doctor's orders, but it didn't help. I generally have more irregular cycles when I am not on birth control, so that may make a difference.

I'd recommend at least trying it. Just beware of possible side effects. My doctor said she had never heard of a case like mine, but still...

That being said, it's a lot more convenient than the pill! I would have stayed on it if I could have.

I started using this as part of a test group with my OB/GYN four years ago. I have never experienced any of the side effects mentioned. My partner could sometimes feel it durning intercourse, but he said it was not an unplesant sensation.

I liked the fact that I could control whether I had a period or not. I am terrible about taking pills and the convenience of this is incredible.

My wife tried it we figured it would be great not having to remember every morning.

Did not have any issues with it falling out or anything like that. I could feel it during sex, but really as a man who cares when you are really worked up!

Our issue is that it made her really sensative inside. Almost as if it was rubbing her raw. On the second month she just had to stop using it. I think it is great for most people, but I am guessing if you are sensitive to lubes and things along those lines you may be sensative to this too.

I am not saying it is the same as a lubricant, but I think that it might be a warning sign of just being over all sensative.

Good luch though I know it works for some people and was enjoyable for the first month.

Norajane is right about side effects. I have yet to be able to tolerate a pill but since the ring acts mostly locally and very little drug actually goes systemically I have yet to have an issue. I love it as well.. couldn't ask for anything easier and their website even has a little program called "nuvatime" that runs on my taskbar. Tells me when to take it out, and put it in.

I used the NuvaRing for over a year and loved it! Mine came with a little monthly timer that beeped when it time to take it out, and beeped again when you were supposed to put a new one in. I never had mine fall out or any other bad side effects. I would still use it, except that I switched to the Seasonale pill so that I only get a period every 3 months (for which my fiance is eternally grateful). If I even stop using the pill, I will definately go back to the ring.

the only thing i know is DONT GET THE SHOT.

my cousin did and her and some other girls all got pregnant.

My roommate is on nuva ring. She likes it a lot because she's horrible at remembering to take pills, plus BCP upset her stomache. She has two issues with it though: sometimes her nuva ring gets stuck on her bf's penis. (True story) She said she started taking it out for sex because some of her bfs found it uncomfortable for sex -despite Nuva Ring company saying both user and partner won't feel it, some did. She said another thing is it makes her vaginal discharge off the hook, but other than that she likes it a lot.

Sorry for graphic languages.

My wife currently uses the ring and loves it. She says it actually feels better during sex. It occasionally gets hooked on my cock and around it, but that's no big deal, and more than worth it for not having to take pills.
