I was hoping on leaving this tragedy in the past, but I thought this would be a good topic to discuss

I hope no one actually figured he would accept responsibility for it????? He is a mere pawn, one of the many whom planned this. There is more there, he is just the tip of the iceberg, IMHO.

Doesn't change the fact the he is a dead man walking.

Actually Bin Laden and the Taliban denied his involvement immediately after the attack. They denied it before many other nations were able to send messages of sympathy.

Sort of like the guilty kid yelling "not me" the loudest when you ask who took the cookies from the table.

He has spoken up now because he knows that not just his followers have met their God/Deity/Higher Power but that we are going to be sending him to meet his maker.

Too bad, so sad, so sorry. Asta La Vista Biache'

I sure as hell don't believe him.

He could take all the lie detector tests in the world and I would not believe him. Chicken shit bastard. He just knows that NOW the thing which he feared the worst is going to come to pass. Now he realizes the err of his ways and is trying to back peddle. Just like the Afghan Gov't saying "We didn't harbor him" or whatever.........I truly feel bad for the innocent people of Afghanastan.

This makes me uncomfortable...

Aren't these guys supposed to be proud of their actions? The fact that bin laden is denying everything doesn't fit...

Bin Laden has also denied involvement in the bombings in Eastern Africa and the attack on the USS Cole.

He denies that he is responsible but praises those who did it. As long as they are following his Fatwah of 1998 then he is responsible.

Article which quotes Bin Laden today...

Bin Laden Denies Responsibility for U.S. Attacks
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Saudi-born Muslim zealot Osama bin Laden has insisted again that he was not responsible for the devastating terror attacks on New York and Washington, an aide told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) on Sunday.

``I am residing in Afghanistan. I have taken an oath of allegiance (to Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar) which does not allow me to do such things from Afghanistan,'' bin Laden was quoted as saying in a statement provided by the political aide.

``We have been blamed in the past, but we were not involved,'' the militant multi-millionaire was quoted as saying.

AIP said it had received the fax, in Arabic, from an undisclosed location in Afghanistan.

Washington says bin Laden is a prime suspect in the U.S. attack and has vowed revenge against him and his protectors.

He has lived for years as a ``guest'' of the Taliban, who insist they have cut off all his communication links with the rest of the world.

Bin Laden has provided hundreds of fundamentalist followers to the Taliban to fight opposition forces in the north.

His war with the United States, which has since put a $5 million bounty on his head, is believed to have begun after U.S. forces deployed in the Saudi Arabia during the 1990-91 Gulf War that followed Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

Bin Laden saw their presence as desecrating the land of Islam.

The tall, bearded 44-year-old former guerrilla fighter has been the target of a massive U.S. manhunt since 1998, when bomb attacks on the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania killed 224 people and injured 4,000.

How pathetic..........what a wuss.

In this very statement the Taliban are caught in their own web of lies and deceit. They in fact said that OBL as not in Afghanistan. They made their own bed.

This is of course true if and only if this news clipping is accurate.
