how do you think they will effect the campain?

"if we attached you because we hate freedom, as Bush said, why wouldn't we have attacked Sweeden which is a free-er country?" or something like that.

The tape was sent by courier to al Jazeera. Osama takes responsibility for ordering the attacks on 9/11, for the first time, I think. He does not threaten the US, but does say that GWB will not win the war on terror, or some such.

The Karl Rove crew says this tape proves we must rally around our leader and the pundits are claiming this tape will be a positive for GWB - the boogey man is still out there folks and GWB is the man to get 'em.

The Kerry people are playing it very low key instead of highlighting that GWB has failed to capture Osama, because it's likely to backfire if he hits GWB hard on that point. Brings the discussion back to 9/11 and away from Iraq, which is beneficial to GWB since people support him for his post-9/11 leadership.

Hasn't changed my mind a bit about either candidate.

Bin Ladin, whatever else you may think of him, is pretty bright. I think he wants Bush to be reelected, or returned to office, if you don't recognize the 2000 election. Knowing how much he is hated in the US, Bin Ladin must know that criticism of Dubya will just gain votes for him. I couldn't guess his motive for this; maybe he thinks Kerry would do a better job of fighting against him.
