I happened to be at a store today and saw a book by Bill Bennett titled, The Death of Outrage. Needless to say, it involved Bill Clinton and his affair with Monica Lewinsky, along with lying about it. Here is a synopsis:

In this new, updated edition of a book heralded as a clarion call to the nation's conscience, William Bennett asks why we see so little public outrage in the fade of the evidence of deep corruption within Bill Clinton's administration. The Death of Outrage examines the Monica Lewinsky scandal as it unfolded, from Clinton's denials that he had had sex with a young White House intern, to his testimony before the grand jury, to the nation's decision not to remove Clinton from office. Brick by brick, Bennett dismantles the wall of defenses offered by Clinton and his apologists, and casts the clear light of moral reason and common sense on a shameful chapter in American history.

One has to wonder if Bill Bennett, and all those who mindlessly nodded along in agreement, are saying the same things about the con artist administration with all its lies, the multiple affairs the con artist has had, his paying women to keep quiet about the affairs, and everything else going on at this time. Have they abandoned moral reason and common sense?

Judging by all his defenders who say it's no big deal if the manchild has lied about his multiple affairs, it appears so. Here is a passage from the book itself:

“Law is the keystone of American society and political culture. If it does not apply to small matters concerning this President, the day will come when the public will be asked to believe that it should be ignored in large matters concerning some other President. . . . The rule of law, whether applied to matters trivial or grand, is the central magic of the American governmental experience. To abandon it today will lead to peril tomorrow.”

Very prescient considering the staggering amount of crimes thus far uncovered by Mueller's investigation. Only time will tell if all those who were "outraged" during Bill Clinton's tenure will have the moral fortitude to apply the same principles. It would be interesting to have Bennett give his opinion on the shit show going on and if he too will be a defender or will he keep to his guns and say the same things.

Granted, one can always argue that someone having an affair outside of the office and lying about it is different than having an affair while in office and lying about it. But is the difference that big? If one lies about multiple, documented affairs, what else are they lying about while in office?

In listening to the defense offered by Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell, it seems hypocrisy is more the order of the day.

That was never really an issue for me.

Vince Foster and the others, there's a story there that has never been properly explored.

The Haitian thing.

Quite a few others. That family is as filthy dirty as the 'Rumps.
