He was lauded as a "democrat who could appeal to Republicans" and a "Jew who could appeal to Arabs", which is not exactly easy to do.

This alienated his carefully cultivated Arab/Muslim supporters. After a year or so of Israeli genocide, Shapiro had second thoughts and began slowly criticizing Netanyahu personally (NOT Israel as a country), insisting that Netanyahu was needlessly prolonging the genocide to further his own political aims (which he is, without a doubt). The powerful Israeli ministry of propaganda began a whispering campaign that Shapiro was, sadly, a "Bad Jew".

When Shapiro was being considered as a vice presidential candidate for Kamala Harris in 2024, Orange Julius Caesar routinely dog-whistled the Proud Boys about "the Jewish governor".... Mango Mussolini was never subtle about shit like that and likely sowed the seeds for Saturday's arson attempt.

Most recently, Shapiro strongly criticized the Harris campaign of 2024, saying it did not do enough to reach out to uneducated white men (as if!). This made Don Cheetolini smile...but only temporarly. Shapiro then went on record as saying "some tariffs good, Trump tariffs bad!" Shapiro governs a steel-producing state, where steel and aluminum tariffs are the difference between having to buy store-brand Frosted Flakes and going to Disney World with the family each year.

And this is not like bombing German cities during WWII -- there is no enemy resistance that can conceivably be weakened in that manner. The Gazans never did have any morale -- no point in trying to destroy it.
