Hello. I am going to send a couple submissions to Literotica, hopefully they'll post them

I'd like to know if people think it's better to write a short fast hot story, or one that's long, slow, and sensual? Any opinions would be appreciated.

I would think it depends on who is reading it and for what reason.

I don't think there is a set standard here. I'm sure everyone has a different preference. My favourite stories are simply the ones which are written well, short or long. I don't really consider the length of the story when I start to read (or write for that matter). If it's a good story I keep reading it. <shrug>

My guess is that for the surfer that just happens through, the short hard and fast stories are best. Cut to the chase, who needs to know anything about the character just give me the action.

However anyone spending much time reading erotic stories will probably want a more developed story line. Like SpecialK said the lenght isn't the important part. It is the story telling. Make it as long as it needs to be to and then edit out the filler. Taking out one sentence can sometimes cleanup a several paragraphs.

The best advice I have heard is don't send it till the whole story is finished and reread it aloud for obvious grammer and spelling errors.

I have one Hell of a time keeping the story short. I like to develop the theme, and characters, and go with it.

'My Lovers, Mother and Daughter' was 33 pages on my screen. It was put in three sections and very well received. Could I do it in one page on this net (11 pages on my computer)- I don't think so? It involved three characters and their interactions. It worked for me.

Maybe I should try it, and see if I can write a short one! I tend to be a detail person and be descriptive, plus have good sexual action too. That doesn't make for a short story in my style!

The above story was long and I still like to read it. I still wonder where some it came from - what part of my mind.

Incidentally THANKS to everyone who voted for it!!

It's the quality that counts, not the quantity. You'll know yourself whether your story is the perfectlength or not. Try to put yourself in the place of a potential reader, imagine you are reading your story for the first time as someone else. See if you are finding it bored and drawn out, or are left feeling cheated.

I think that the lenght of the story does count. I hate short, fast stories. They build up no arousal and are over too quick, "he saw her, fucked her and then he shot his cum and she moaned. The end." Dumb, dumb, dumb! Try to add a little life to the characters but don't tell a life story.
