Best video platform for camming?

We've used Skype for a few years and it works fine, though it seems to be less popular now. We've tried Kik and it's not for us, partly because it seems designed for phones, not laptops.

We recently posted a personals ad and one respondent uses Whereby. It seems to be like Zoom, a way to do a video connection without having an account. It seems best for one-offs, not for messaging or repeat connections. It has a record feature but I assume that must be approved by both users.

Does anyone know Whereby? Other than Kik, which was almost discontinued a few months ago, are there any recommendations? Security is our most important criteria.

Thanks. I'm posting this in Personals because it's a support for those who seek video connections.

Skype is the only one that I have used for personal use.

I've used hangouts, which is pretty good. Can be used across platforms. And if you are a multiple person caller, that handles it very well.

Thanks, all. Skype has been our go-to as well. We haven't tried Google Hangouts, though we looked at it once and it seemed legit.

I can do the research but if anyone is reading this: what are the advantages of Hangouts over Skype? We're curious.

Only thing I can think of is that it's part of the Google package of Apps. Most Android phones have it as standard and it's pretty easy to use & reliable.

I have had problems with getting my cam and microphone to work on google hangouts when I have tried to use it for work related meetings. Skype has always worked well but it has been months since I was last on Skype so don't know if there have been any updates that might have caused problems.

I lke Kast, although it is more to create a cam-room, up till 20 cams I think.

Has anyone else of late been constantly locked out of Skype? Tried a few different accounts and even a new e mail address but each morning I seem to have been locked out ...strange !
