As I was saying to Kippies, for me it's either "I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die" by Johnny Cash or "two lovers missing the tranquillity of solitude" by The Jam.

What you got?

If at all God's gaze upon us falls, it's with a mischievous grin.

Or,
Just before our love got lost you said
"I am as constant as a northern star"
And I said "Constantly in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be in the bar"

eta: yeah yeah, more than one line, cry about it.

When I listen to your heart I hear the whole world turning,
I see the shooting stars falling through your trembling hands.

Her name was Magill, and she called herself Lil, but everyone knew her as Nancy

Actually, from that album I prefer "all your dreams are made, when you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade".

Doesn't speak to me as I've never been addicted to coke.

Though I am addicted to Coke.

I shot my mouth off and you showed me what that hole's for.

"and all the fat, skinny people;
and all the tall, short people;
and all the nobody people;
and all the somebody people;
never thought i'd need so many people"

david bowie, "5 years"

And here I sit so patiently
Waiting to find out what price
You have to pay to get out of
Going through all these things twice

I have always wondered abut that. If he shot a man in Reno, why is he now in Folsom Prison, which is a CA state penitentiary? :confused:

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us

Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,

Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,

I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel,
you were talking so brave and so sweet,
giving me head on the unmade bed,
while the limousines wait in the street.

Well, clearly he got away with the Reno shooting and was imprisoned on unrelated charges. Maybe he smoked indoors in Santa Monica.

Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball

Lyrics were never his strong suit.

"and as he handed me a drink he began to hum a song... and all the boys at the bar began to sing along"

I stopped by the bar at 3 a.m.
To seek solace in a bottle or possibly a friend
I woke up with a headache like my head against a board
Twice as cloudy as I'd been the night before
I went in seeking clarity.

Then I crossed the empty street,
'n caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken.
And it took me back to somethin',
That I'd lost somehow, somewhere along the way.
