This may be something more apt for the 'Authors' forum, but I worry it wouldn't get as many views over there.

When you think of some of your favorite stories on here, what are your favorite lines?

Especially from the writers about their own stories.

Lovecraft68, you have some favs from yours?

Moved to the AH.

I'm laughing at myself. I went into one of my stories to read and see if the line I was thinking of was in that one, and ended up reading the whole story and forgot about this thread.

So, no lines. All the best lines I can think of are in other people's stories and movies, mostly "The Princess Bride".

One that sticks out to me isn't because I think its particularly memorable, but because it was a shot at the annoying trope of the "bad boy" always turning out to be a decent sort or getting 'softened' by the female lead.

"So you're one of those sensitive bad boy types I read about?"

"No, I'm just a bad boy, the worst you'll ever meet."

This is one line of a review I received on that book that shows at least one person appreciated that.

Not to give away any of the plot points in this review, but Craft has the ingenuity and integrity not to sanitize Mark Phillips's past and character.

A film laced with some of the best. It's inconceivable there's another.
but:-
"My name is Inigo Montoya; you killed my father. Prepare to die"

PS. I forgot to mention the Author: William Goldman.

Favorite of mine:
Ginger rolled her eyes. "Words ARE important, Amy."
"Yeah, crap," Amy said. "I'm a southern girl. Words are for chit-chat. If it's important, call your lawyer and sign a bunch of papers."

Favorite from elsewhere:
"I like women as much as the next man."
"I *was* the next man."

What's one of your favorite lines from one of your stories?

A favorite line? That's difficult to choose. I scanned a few stories and found sections I liked but I couldn't narrow it down to a single line.

( Referring to Peanut Butter Kisses ) I don't care if they say they're made of real peanut butter, they smell like old feet and have the same texture as plumber's caulk.

and...

Beware the fun-sized Snickers bars of Lucifer!

Don't mind the ectosplooge, it vanishes in sunlight.

As far as single lines go, it's my silly stuff that stands out. There are a lot of things that are more memorable to me, but they're passages rather than lines.

One of my stories has a line which sounds like a joke but which is actually true and is the keystone around which the entire story is written, but no one will ever get that except me.

My most favorite line in all of history of movies...

"You want to here me scream? ... Play some rap music."

The ultimate pick up line -
"There’s a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours."

The reason the story would never make it on Lit. -
"They’re kissing again. Do we have to read the kissing parts?"

It's from "Raiders" No. 3 one of my favs from there is also:
"He didn't choose wisely"

or (not quite accurately, but sort of) -
"He's coming in from 9 O'Clock"
"No ... it's nearly eleven"
