What in your opinion was the best invention of the Century? It should have merit in reducing the labor required to do the chore it replaced. Did it revolutionize the way we live and work?
Got any picks? No limits.

*Harley-Davidson/Indian motorcycles 1903-1922 *Increased the mobility of the common person before Henry Ford came out with an equally priced auto. Plus I'm biased! :D

the mechanical bull!! how could it be anything else?? way more important than such fads as the computer and the tv!

I do not know about "best"

Most influential? I think that time will prove the Internet as the most influential innovation.

Television has been more influential though.

My best invention? The birth control pill. I think the pill changed a lot of things.

The darkside of the lightbulb...

With the lightbulb, businesses could stay open all night instead of closing at dusk. (everyone slept at night, worked during the day) So our sleep problems started with the light bulb, on the plus side, strip joints and clubs could stay open later! :D

WTF you talking about? PORN is one of the earliest forms of art known to exist. That and tagging...

Tele Zapper..................LOL.

Television and/or Radio.

Some of the most beneficial innovations for humankind have been mentioned already. Any one from:

Antibiotics
Contraceptive Pill
Transistor
Instant mash potato

Er... Excuse me for being a tad pedantic but.... TV and *Light Bulb were invented in 20thC and the Telephone in the 19thC.

This is the 21stC and hasn't had a lot of time for the new major inventions to appear or have an impact.

If you mean 20th C then would have to try and choose between Jet engine, washing machine (try hand washing regularly and you will really apprecait the washing machine.) or the microwave oven.

And instant mashed potato doesn't count. it's only distinguishable from wall paper paste because it is whiter. Been around a looooooong while too.

(*I mean the modern light bulb... Ahem...)

Michael Jackson

Britany Spiears

Madonna

Pee Daddy

That Country & Western guy

Pick and choose.

Of the choices presented, the light bulb, although it was invented in the 19th century. But more important then the rest.

Wow, I actually agree with SINthysist.

Without advances in transistors, we would be living in a much different world.

Anything from Igia.

They make the bestest stuff!

Anyone use the hair braid thingy?

The Light Bulb and the Telephone were both invented in the 19th Century.

You would think someone here might just say the PC, if you're question was supposed to be about the 20th Century.

Now, now people. Let's not get silly. Let's try and keep it sensible and only mention practicle, life changing, world shaping, culture defining items.

So how about Deeleey boppers. You know those things with glitter polystyrene balls on the end of springs stuck to a head band.

(The PC? Why? What has the PC ever done for us?)

Ahh....but even the PC needed the transistor. Or did you mean PC as in Political Correctness? :)
