Best format for pasting into text box

I've often used plain text Word format for some reason. Is rich text perhaps better?

If you past your text into the submission box it will default to that of the submission box. When the story is published, it will conform to the CSS of the story page. On the new story page you can change the text font but as far as submitting there will be no difference.

There is one other thing, if you embed html tags in the text, there are only a small group that are allowed, they will remain.

Tags allowed are...

Bold.........<b>text</b>
Italic.........<i> text </i>
Underline..<u> text </u>
Center.......<center> text </center> ( you have to watch out for this one as the conversion of the html tag to html 5 tag of will insert two line feeds between it and the next line.)

and a few others that I haven't used.
