IMHO Stevie Ray Vaughan is/was the greatest blues guitarist. Why are the great ones not usually recognised for what they are untill it's too late.

Gary Moore.

I wanted to list more, but I am too damn tired right now.

Once a BB fan, always a B.B. fan. There's a reason the man's the king.

I'll be interested to see what youngins like Jonny Lang and Shannon Curfman will be producing when they're 50. Lots of potential, but who can tell whether they'll continue to improve, or will burn out fast and young?

BB King is the master, yes? I am alive when he sings 'The Thrill is gone'. such sadness but strength:)

Another reason to like you, Nessus, though I already have plenty. "The Thrill is Gone" is far and away my favorite BB tune. The version with Tracy Chapman on "Deuces Wild" just kills me, every time. "Standing on the Edge" does it for me, too.

Whaaa???

I can't believe anyone would leave out Robert Johnson:confused:

Jeff Healey...and it aint because he's blind either...seen him live
once..just fuckin stunning....to see a guy play it like that was unbelievable.

Also...you forgot to add Jeff Beck to the poll list

B.B. King and Lucille, hands down, no question. Wait a second, did Muddy Waters play the guitar? I like him too.

Charlie Christian: The first musician to use an electric guitar explosively.

Ry Cooder: One of my personal favorites.

For the sake of the poll: Stevie Ray....

For the sake of the arg...

C Christian: Solo Flight. He was never canonized in the music world as he died very young from TB. He was hallaciously good though. :)

Ry Cooder: DamnifIknow....I have listened to him and rather enjoy his rifts. Have listened to him mostly with friends, some 151 :O or actually, have noticed his stuff on certain movies. Crossroads may have been one of them.

SRV

While a truly great talent and dedicated musician seemed to work too hard at his blues.

T Bone Walker
Muddy Waters
Robert Johnson

would be among some of my choices.

Maybe even Jimmy page for the new directions that he was willing to go into enriching the genre from a new cultural perspective.
