Personal pet peeve. Good stories (or sometimes really aggravating stories) that were started and abandoned by the authors. Not recent ones, but one's at least 2-3 years old, where the author has just disappeared!

Like DamonX's 8 days: http://www.literotica.com/s/8-days or his My Loving Wife http://www.literotica.com/s/my-loving-wife-ch-1 or Birthday Girl http://www.literotica.com/s/birthday-girl-15
(DamonX seems to make a habit of unfinished works.)

or anbk's Jennifer at St. Ciels http://www.literotica.com/s/jennifer-at-st-ciels-ch-1
(Can't tell if it's finished - it shouldn't be)

or EveHasFallen's Rainey's Song http://www.literotica.com/s/raineys-song
(untouched since 2008 although she did come back in 2012 to write 2 chapters of another series.)

or RazorLyt's The Cuckold Diet Challenge: http://www.literotica.com/s/the-cuckold-diet-challenge
(crazy aggravating start, that leaves you hanging!)

Let's hear it. Which one(s) drives you crazy that it's not finished...?

One of my favorite Lit. authors posted two chapters of this story then moved on to other things. It is far from complete, as the husband is walking in on the wife and a co-worker at the end of chapter two. I've been waiting for this story to conclude for a few years now.

The Shop Floor Guys, by urbanslut.

Not really on topic, but this thread made me think of the opposite.

I would love to see a "series you wish would end for Christ's sake" thread.

But I suppose that would be considered poor taste.

Wow - talk about a cliff hanger. That's just cruel!

Not in Poor Taste

Your comment is not in poor taste at all. To many authors do not know how to bring their story or series to a proper, fulfilling & graceful ending. Instead they either fall in love with their story lines or continue to milk good or not so good ratings from vapid readers.

I don't know about abandoned, but it's been a few months and there's no continuation to this story. I love the set up, it's about a female detective who goes undercover to get revenge for her murdered sister.

It's a nonconesent story, so obviously something naughty happens along the way.

If the author is reading this right now, get back to work!!!

Snippety-snip ...

Doesn't that last comment fall under a "misery loves company" heading?

As for your basic pet peeve, short of putting a pistol to their head or kidnapping their first-born and holding the child hostage for another chapter, I don't think there is a way to force a Lit writer to continue a story line after they have gotten tired of it, their muse has left, or whatever reason caused them to abandon it.

[Ghods forbid they let real life interfere. ;)]

My pet peeve too

Before I start any multi-chapter story, I skip to the last chapter comments. I have a huge bookmarks folder of stories that I periodically check for updates.

Another annoying thing are the stories that are updated with one chapter years later, but are still not completed.

That said, I quickly lose my annoyance if an author has taken the time to update their bio. It helps knowing if the author does or doesn't have plans to update a story. Since this is a free website, I can't get mad if an author (for whatever reason) doesn't finish a story.

I am working on a series that will have five or six chapters, and I'm not posting any of it until it's all done, for exactly this reason. If I run out of inspiration to finish what I've planned, I'll write an ending that makes sense at whatever point in the story arc I've reached.

I never post a story until...

it's completed. One of my favorite writers has a tendency to just leave a story hanging and start another one; God, that pisses me off. I have sworn I will never read her again then she pulls me in with another great story and I only hope she finishes the damn thing.

You will find DamonX on lushstories. Not sure if he is still active though

The remarkable story of 'Discovering My Nasty Wife' by Tony88888

I don't know about this being among the best abandoned stories as I've never actually read it, but the title does appear quite a lot under 'similar stories.' That's the recommendation list you'll find at the end of every novel.

'Discovering My Nasty Wife' has 113 comments, including 5 recent, even though it dates back to 5 October 2001. Lots and lots of comments is a good recommendation in my book. The comments facility wasn't turned on until 18 September 2008, therefore missing out on nearly 7 years worth of feedback. Lots of the comments are urging author Tony to finish his story. He published one other story the previous day.

On 26 June 2010 - nearly nine years after the publication of his two other stories - Tony made a comeback with 'The Dream.' On 29 April 2011 - 9½ years after publication - Tony left a comment of his own, making an apology to his readers for the delay in finishing his story, promising a 'continuation of the story as soon as possible' as well as having 'new stories in the oven.'

On 10 December 2011 - more than 10 years after publication - Tony again apologised 'for not finishing the continuation of the story sooner' and promising that ' I have been writing the continuation and new stories which I'll have to you soon.' He also gave his readers the option of being 'added to his mailing list' and thanked his fans 'for all the great feedback.'

His novel is 4 Literotica pages long and its rave reviews (comments) has tempted me to give it a read. But of course there wouldn't be much point with no ending. More than 12 years on, it continues to receive feedback; the last one being on 19 August 2013

Well, Nrlynkdbabe (author) has several story lines that were started, but are only 2 or 3 chapters long despite "promising more" at the end of the stories. Admittedly each story is more or less self contained. But....

I really miss her. She had great stories, even if not believable they were really great.
