I had done so much for hubby for Valentine's Day. It all got ruined after 2 trips to the ER last night

I have asthma and my symptoms felt like that is what it was. The have discovered my chest wall is inflamed. That is what is making it feel like asthma.

They wanted me to try to get a good nights sleep to see how that helped. I KEPT WAKING UP. No fever last night but one today. No vomiting last night but am today. I go to see family doc in 6 hours ( that is the soonest I can get in)

I really just want to be taken out back and shot. I am at the computer with one blanket around my legs and another one around my torso.

What a way for me to ruin Valentines grrr

You have my empathy. I have been blue all day as well as ill, probably not helped by the fact he is away on business again and feeling miserable himself because we are apart. :rose:

Oh, you poor thing. *hugs*

Why's your chest wall inflamed? Is this like a viral thing? Is your doctor any good, or do I need to get on my doctor soap box again. :p *hugs* I hope you feel better.

It is probably pleuritis or pleurisy, an inflamation caused by the lungs rubbing against the pleural cavity. There is usually a lubricant called surfactant that eliminates the friction but if it dries, the friction can be very painful.

I know you are disappointed but just remember you are not ruining Valentine's Day! You didn't try to get sick after all. You are also human. I know how you feel. I always feel like I am ruining things for others when I get sick but he loves you. He knows you've put a lot of thought and planning into this. In time you will both laugh at this when you look back. All those toys can still be used in the future too. Each one will be precious to him because it came from you with your love.

For now just try to take care of yourself. The best thing you could do is just let go of that guilt and take care of you!

Fury  :rose:

That's the problem with having special days that need to be special for a certain person or two... I tend to get sick on New Year's Eve, especially when we had planned things that I really wanted to do.
But, lil elmo, you two don't need a certain day to celebrate your love for each other. Put your plans on hold for now, and when you are not sick anymore you can give him the box (or use it for the first time), go out for dinner, do everything you wanted to do today.
It's not like christmas, you can celebrate Valentine's Day anytime by celebrating your love. :rose:

Oh I am sorry, after all your efforts.

But at least you will be able to enjoy a belated valentines when your better :rose:

I tend to be sick only for two days the whole year: New Year's Eve and New Year's. Oh well, haven't done this for a couple of years now, so maybe my series is over.

I really hope your series is over :rose:

Just got bk from Doctors. I have a prescription for antibotics. The way he explained it is my ribs are basically rubbing against each other and irritating them.

With me having a fever and cough he wants to be safe in case it is viral. Plus I am asthmatic. One good thing is I have had less than 2 smokes today. I can not even inhale. Maybe this will be the catlyist(sp) to me quitting.

Hubby has been such a sweetie. I must say he loved his gifts. He is picking up supper from Cheescake Cafe atm ( that is where we were going out to eat). We will just be eating at home.

He is also picking me up freezies as I have one wicked sore throat with a dry cough.

Thank you all for your replies. :cathappy:

Master Gil spent half of Valentine's Day hooked up to a machine in the hospital undergoing dialysis, and the other half feeling like a limp dish rag.

But we don't need a certain day to celebrate our love, it's expressed every day :) And we have plans on Friday evening to go out for dinner with friends from Lit, so all is not lost!

*sigh*

My daughter is feeling "sick." Which makes me feel, "sick." Still, it's nothing like what y'all are going through. My heart goes out to you! *HUGS*

I hope you will be better soon. Even if I have to say that your doctor either did not explain it right or doesn't really know  Antibiotics won't help with any viral infection. Only with bacteria. Hope it helps anyway. :rose:

:( That sounds awful, I hope everyone who is ill feels better soon!

I have a tendency to get sick only on major holidays, i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years.... times when all the family gets together (much to my dismay) or when I'd really like to be able to go out and have fun.

I suspect the only reason I wasn't sick yesterday was because my boyfriend and I are only about 10,000 miles apart, so the perverse sense of humor that the gods have wasn't invoked this year. :p
