"Because it's there."

Hi Mr. P.
How high can you climb going straight up on a snow machine?

Never tried it. I've only been on them a few times, when I was a little kid. I'm not the biggest fan of motorized recreation, personally. The noise, the expense, the smell...not for me. I see occasionally people get killed doing that competitive thing, what's it called? Highlining or something like that, where they try to drive higher on a snow slope than the next person.

I can see the appeal. I'm as big a fan as the average guy of going "wheeee!" on a fast machine, and as someone once said to me, they do allow you fast access to the backcountry. They're wonderfully useful rescue/cargo transporting tools as well.

Hopefully, none of those guys will get buried this year. One of the guys I work with has a new Skidoo 800 Summit (156 hp or so)....those could go to the moon.....

Yes, they're loud. I'm a speed girl though.

At least one idiot a year thor.

But you were going a lot faster than any snow machine you're likely to ride.

I WAS going a lot faster! It was one of those once in a lifetime, never to be repeated again because the dynamics and situation can never live up to it.

Was it? I did my five jumps in the ever-loving military, so I didn't get to free fall OR have sex during same. I may require the services of a coach.

Sex was the last thing on my mind. More like 'man it's hard to breathe when the wind is rushing at your face' and 'I hope I land up right'.

A guy jumped with me and fell opposite with a cam on his helmet. I got a VHS tape of it all played to Tom Pettys Free Fallin'

Cool experience. That tape needs to be digitized soon.

I'm off to bed. Have a great evening.
