Importance of chastity.
Let us now examine some of the punishments that were commonly applied
in the Victorian and Edwardian households. Most of what follows is
derived from information which was freely available at the time in
the form of Instruction Manuals and articles published privately by
training schools and issued to prospective Governess' and Nannies.
There were variations depending on the original author but all
followed similar guidelines and established similar routines and
punishments for infractions of the rules.

Finger Stocks:
A wooden device which held the fingers and thumbs of both hands.
Pressure on the fingers could be increased by tightening down the
threaded screws which held the upper and lower part of the stocks
together. The victim would be seated on a low wooden stool with his
ankles bound to the front legs. The stocks would be placed on a table
or desk before him and he could be left unsupervised for several
hours to endure the increasing discomfort in hands, bottom and back
with no means of touching his offending parts.
Stool Posture:
This was a supervised punishment. The offender stripped of his
trousers and nether garments would be made to kneel upright on a
wooden stool with his hands on his head. His Governess would sit

evacuated from the bottle by means of a pump, causing the inflamed
penis to swell and add further frustration and discomfort to the
hapless offender. If he caused the seal to break before his Governess
released him, he would earn further punishment. The need to maintain
his position required enormous self-control, and was intensely
humiliating, as it was carried out as a totally supervised
punishment.
The Poultice Pouch:
This was usually made of soft leather with a drawer string top. The
bag was filled with a similar compound to that described above (see
below for details) and was then positioned to enclose the victim's
penis and scrotum. He was then bound hand and foot, face up on his
bed to helplessly suffer the burning agony inflicted on his sensitive

"After an hour the screams from the adjoining room subsided and the
rattling of the iron bed gradually diminished. After a further 40
minutes, when I went to inspect, I found the bag was still in place
and he had drifted mercifully into a troubled sleep, the cane that
would visit his backside the following day, should he be tempted to
remove the bag, was still held obediently in his right hand."
Horse Hair Drawers:
Designed to be worn at night to prevent further masturbation and to
punish for the offence; the canvas drawers lined with horse hair
fitted tightly around the groin and upper thighs. They inflicted
intense irritation to the sensitive genitals during the night. The
drawer string around the waist was tightened and sometimes the knot
scaled with sealing wax to ensure that they could not be removed by
the victim during the long restless night without detection.

Constructed of thick cow-hide, the oblong box was made in two parts;
upper and lower halves were hinged at one end, and at the other, a
padded semi-circular opening allowed the box to enclose penis and
testicles. When closed the padded opening fitted tightly around the
base of the penis and scrotum. A strap and lock ensured it would
remain in place and would deny any access for the purposes of
masturbation. Both halves of the box were lined with 3/4" long Hog's
bristle which caused immense torment.
Such devices when worn at night had the advantage of preserving any
evidence of 'nightly emission' for which further punishment would be
awarded. Morning 'Bed Inspections' were part of the Governess' duties

passed up between the cheeks of his bottom to be fastened to the back
of the waist strap. The Governess would grasp the scrotum with one
hand, the tip of the penis with the other and pull them back and
under his legs before pulling on the crutch strap to secure it.
Care had to be taken not to tighten this strap too tightly as it
exerted pressure on the genitals which could inflict severe pain.
When used merely as a night restraint the wrists could be attached to
cuffs attached to the broad leather waist strap which made
masturbation impossible and would be sure to act as a further
reminder that disobedience would not be tolerated.

hairbrush, slippers, tawse, tapette, switch, cane, birch, riding
crop, martinet."
Records of all punishments were considered essential
and... 'meticulous details regarding each punishment are advised in
order to aid review of the success of each directive and to ensure
subsequent punishments for the same offence shall be ever more
severe.' ... Victims were always required to read and sign each entry
after punishment.
Corporal punishments were formal and ritualistic. The good Governess
was quick to appreciate the benefit of the torment and anxiety that
could be generated by extending the time he had to anticipate each
punishment. Written notes were recommended to announce his impending
punishment and an example is given:
'The punishment note should be contained within a sealed envelope for
his trembling fingers to open. It should not be handed to him in
person but rather, left in a conspicuous spot for him to chance upon
and shiver as he sees his time writ large and bold upon it...'
It might read... "Dear Tom,
I request your attendance in my study at precisely six pm tomorrow.
You will enter the study, go to the cupboard and take down the cane
which I have selected for your punishment and to which I have
attached a red ribbon.
You will place the cane on the top of the whipping block and stand
before it after first lowering and removing your trousers and
undergarments which will be folded and placed neatly in the comer of
the room.
You will remove the ribbon from the cane and tie it tightly around
the organ that produced the offensive emission..
You will place your hands on your head and await my arrival. Do not
increase the severity of your punishment by fidgeting while you wait
or by failing to carry out these instructions correctly... the
punishment I intend to give you will be harsh enough.'
Your Governess."

for the self-abuser had absolutely no medical benefit and has to he
regarded as punitive rather than a possible cure or sensible
deterrent. Much the same can be said for the widespread and liberal
dosing of masturbators with Cod Liver Oil.
The flagellation implements of the Victorian era are still widely
available and still provide extremely effective punishments. We also
now enjoy a wide range of modern restraints and chastity devices.
Potions and lotions are now available in tubes.... more convenient
and just as effective! Piercings identical to those applied to the
Roman slaves are still inflicted on the unfortunate male's genitalia
to deter self abuse and control erections.
Teasing and tormenting the offending male's penis and testicles,
binding with rope, humiliation, clipping and whipping of the genitals
are all effective at arousing the male to the point where an erection
becomes a painful and undesirable attribute and the need to
masturbate dissolves. His penis is owned and controlled solely by his
Wife or Mistress and his own desires are permanently subdued.
In looking to recreate the remedies developed by our Victorian
forebears to deter their youth from self-abuse and relieve
the 'morning tensions', as it was so delicately put by one
contemporary Governess, detailed literature searches reveal countless
descriptions of genital torment and punishment by 'rubefactions', but
most are 'broad-brush' with little detail of how exactly they were
prepared and administered.
However a few of these tried and trusted remedies have been passed
down through the ages and I am pleased to draw them to the attention
of modern Ladies needing to keep their naughty males in line.
Bran and Mustard Poultice.
Ingredients:
4 ounces of Bran
1 Tablespoon of Salt
1 Tablespoon of Flour of Mustard
Preparation:
Take a piece of soft flannel and soak it in boiling water, remove,
wring out and sprinkle one side with plenty of Flour of Mustard, the
more the better. This should be done while placed on a hot plate so
that no heat may be lost. Then place a fine piece of muslin or gauze
on top and keep the whole warm.
Place the Bran upon the top of a pan of boiling water and when the
heat has penetrated the bran, stir gently in together with the Salt.
Pour off the surplus water, spread the Bran thickly on a piece of old
linen or calico.
The poultice should be made larger than is necessary, let it be from
1/2" to 1" thick. Do not pat it down into a hard pudding. Have the
cloth on which it is spread large enough to fold all round and double
up so that the Bran may not ooze out.
Application:
Have everything ready. Restrain the naked boy by wrists and ankles so
that he lies inert, thighs spread, face upwards on a bare mattress
covered with an old flannel sheet. If possible the bed-frame should
be positioned in a room adjoining or adjacent to the Governess' or
Nanny's room.
Suitable gloves should be worn to apply the poultice and protect the
hands. Stretch the penis forward with one hand, (if it is erect so
much the better), extend the scrotal sac and contents along the penis
shaft with the other then wrap a bandage, (a single layer of thin
gauze) around the appendage ready for the application of the Mustard
flannel.
Now quickly apply the Mustard flannel, wrapping the entire genital
area with the flannel.
The Bran Poultice is then applied as soon as possible on top. It
should be as hot as it can be borne. Now cover the whole organ with
oil-silk or rubber sheeting, keeping it firmly fastened to the place
intended. The purpose of the Bran Poultice is defeated if it becomes
a stiff cold paste or if it is allowed to slip about in an unsteady
fashion. The Bran Poultice will heat the Mustard Poultice so it
imparts its burning heat to the recalcitrant organ. It will also
maintain the effects for a lengthy period.

The Results:
A properly applied Bran and Mustard Poultice is excruciatingly
painful as evidenced by the screams and writhings of the tortured
youth. The pain is intense, particularly on the scrotum which is far
more sensitive to heat than my penis itself. Application of the Bran
Poultice will produce an overwhelming increase in the intensity of
pain which is scarcely bearable or remarkable duration. The following
day one can expect to find the offenders genitals, and particularly
the scrotum are bright red and very sore. Some individuals may find
that the skin goes on to blister and it may take up to two weeks to
recover.
The Chilli Cap
Ingredients:
1 large Red Extra Hot Chilli Pepper, approximate size 5" long, 1½"
in
diameter.
Preparation:
Cut off the top and the stalk. Using a thin blade remove most of the
inner core and seeds from the pod. These are the hottest and
therefore the most irritating part of the Chilli.
By a process of trial and error you will be able to regulate the
degree of discomfort applied as you see fit. Frequent and persistent
self abuse will attract a pod containing more seeds and flesh to
instantly curb the most recalcitrant boy.
Application:
Restrain the boy's wrists and ankles to the bed rails. Wear gloves
and ensure no contact to the eyes is made by the Chilli juice. Grasp
the penis shaft well below the frenum and gently cover the penis head
with the pod twisting it and squeezing at the same time.
The Results:
The speed at which the pain strikes with this formula is amazing, the
lightest touch of the pod produces intense burning almost
immediately. The pain burns persistently and intensely, barely
tolerable, as a solid continuous burning. For serious offenders some
of the juice may be applied to the shaft and scrotum with
excruciating results. This is a the most severe remedy if the right
chilli pepper is located with lots of seeds. The penis will swell
nicely and burn for well over an hour.
Pepper Fomentation
Ingredients:
1 Large Red Pepper
2 Green Peppers
2 White Peppers
2 Yellow Peppers The seed and cores from 2 large extra-hot Chillies
Beeswax. Hogs lard. Oil of turpentine. Borax.
Preparation:
Take each of the Peppers and remove the top and stalk and discard.
Scoop out the inner core and seeds and leave to thoroughly dry. Do
the same with Chillies.
When thoroughly dry place in mortar and grind all to a fine powder
with a pestle, sieving through a fine mesh.
Melt the oils together in a bowl over hot water taking 1½
teaspoons
of beeswax, 1 teaspoon of Hogs Lard and 5 teaspoons of Oil of
Turpentine. Then warm the Pepper powder and melt into it 1/4 teaspoon
of Borax.
Add this to the oils and beat together until the mixture is cold
enough to transfer to pots. Try to find a pot of sufficient diameter
to allow the penis head to enter freely, one with a neck diameter of
2" and 2" depth is ideal and will comfortably hold the product of the
measured ingredients described above.
This lotion may be stored in a cool and secure place in well sealed
pots ready for use. They should be clearly labelled as 'Caustic' to
ensure that harmful results do not occur as the result of accidental
misuse. Large quantities are not necessary as only a little need be
applied to achieve maximum effect. It is well to note that this is an
economical preparation as use is made only of the parts of the Pepper
normally disposed of as too hot to use for normal cooking.
Application:
Care should be used when handling this very fiery lotion. It will be
necessary to immobilise the miscreant's hands and preferably his
ankles as well. His clothing will be as you prefer provided that
unrestricted access is allowed to his genitals.
With one hand, firmly grasp the penis shaft and agitate it until
blood flows freely to enlarge the head to full proportions. Then
anoint the whole by gently twisting and pushing the offending member
into the lotion, expect to hear cries of distress when the heating
takes hold, but ignore them as they will eventually diminish as the
fire subsides. This is a severe measure for repeat offenders and the
male must expect it to be unpleasant and disturbing. Excellent
results have been obtained with this astringent lotion. A cotton ball
may be used to rub the lotion on the remainder of the shaft for
further encouragement of good behaviour.
This may also be rubbed onto the penis or used in the pouch mentioned
earlier.
The Results:
After about one minute the worst pain begins, it is fairly severe
becoming very severe after about 4-5 minutes. When at its peak it
will fire intense waves of throbbing heat and burning through the
naughty member. Though not as severe as a good Chilli Cap it may be
intensified by rubbing harder.

most are 'broad-brush' with little detail of how exactly they were
prepared and administered.
However a few of these tried and trusted remedies have been passed
down through the ages and I am pleased to draw them to the attention
of modern Ladies needing to keep their naughty males in line.
Bran and Mustard Poultice.
Ingredients:
4 ounces of Bran
1 Tablespoon of Salt
1 Tablespoon of Flour of Mustard
Preparation:
Take a piece of soft flannel and soak it in boiling water, remove,
wring out and sprinkle one side with plenty of Flour of Mustard, the
more the better. This should be done while placed on a hot plate so
that no heat may be lost. Then place a fine piece of muslin or gauze
on top and keep the whole warm.
Place the Bran upon the top of a pan of boiling water and when the
heat has penetrated the bran, stir gently in together with the Salt.
Pour off the surplus water, spread the Bran thickly on a piece of old
linen or calico.
The poultice should be made larger than is necessary, let it be from
1/2" to 1" thick. Do not pat it down into a hard pudding. Have the
cloth on which it is spread large enough to fold all round and double
up so that the Bran may not ooze out.
Application:
Have everything ready. Restrain the naked boy by wrists and ankles so
that he lies inert, thighs spread, face upwards on a bare mattress
covered with an old flannel sheet. If possible the bed-frame should
be positioned in a room adjoining or adjacent to the Governess' or
Nanny's room.
Suitable gloves should be worn to apply the poultice and protect the
hands. Stretch the penis forward with one hand, (if it is erect so
much the better), extend the scrotal sac and contents along the penis
shaft with the other then wrap a bandage, (a single layer of thin
gauze) around the appendage ready for the application of the Mustard
flannel.
Now quickly apply the Mustard flannel, wrapping the entire genital
area with the flannel.
The Bran Poultice is then applied as soon as possible on top. It
should be as hot as it can be borne. Now cover the whole organ with
oil-silk or rubber sheeting, keeping it firmly fastened to the place
intended. The purpose of the Bran Poultice is defeated if it becomes
a stiff cold paste or if it is allowed to slip about in an unsteady
fashion. The Bran Poultice will heat the Mustard Poultice so it
imparts its burning heat to the recalcitrant organ. It will also
maintain the effects for a lengthy period.

The Results:
A properly applied Bran and Mustard Poultice is excruciatingly
painful as evidenced by the screams and writhings of the tortured
youth. The pain is intense, particularly on the scrotum which is far
more sensitive to heat than my penis itself. Application of the Bran
Poultice will produce an overwhelming increase in the intensity of
pain which is scarcely bearable or remarkable duration. The following
day one can expect to find the offenders genitals, and particularly
the scrotum are bright red and very sore. Some individuals may find
that the skin goes on to blister and it may take up to two weeks to
recover.
The Chilli Cap
Ingredients:
1 large Red Extra Hot Chilli Pepper, approximate size 5" long, 1½"
in
diameter.
Preparation:
Cut off the top and the stalk. Using a thin blade remove most of the
inner core and seeds from the pod. These are the hottest and
therefore the most irritating part of the Chilli.
By a process of trial and error you will be able to regulate the
degree of discomfort applied as you see fit. Frequent and persistent
self abuse will attract a pod containing more seeds and flesh to
instantly curb the most recalcitrant boy.
Application:
Restrain the boy's wrists and ankles to the bed rails. Wear gloves
and ensure no contact to the eyes is made by the Chilli juice. Grasp
the penis shaft well below the frenum and gently cover the penis head
with the pod twisting it and squeezing at the same time.
The Results:
The speed at which the pain strikes with this formula is amazing, the
lightest touch of the pod produces intense burning almost
immediately. The pain burns persistently and intensely, barely
tolerable, as a solid continuous burning. For serious offenders some
of the juice may be applied to the shaft and scrotum with
excruciating results. This is a the most severe remedy if the right
chilli pepper is located with lots of seeds. The penis will swell
nicely and burn for well over an hour.
Pepper Fomentation
Ingredients:
1 Large Red Pepper
2 Green Peppers
2 White Peppers
2 Yellow Peppers The seed and cores from 2 large extra-hot Chillies
Beeswax. Hogs lard. Oil of turpentine. Borax.
Preparation:
Take each of the Peppers and remove the top and stalk and discard.
Scoop out the inner core and seeds and leave to thoroughly dry. Do
the same with Chillies.
When thoroughly dry place in mortar and grind all to a fine powder
with a pestle, sieving through a fine mesh.
Melt the oils together in a bowl over hot water taking 1½
teaspoons
of beeswax, 1 teaspoon of Hogs Lard and 5 teaspoons of Oil of
Turpentine. Then warm the Pepper powder and melt into it 1/4 teaspoon
of Borax.
Add this to the oils and beat together until the mixture is cold
enough to transfer to pots. Try to find a pot of sufficient diameter
to allow the penis head to enter freely, one with a neck diameter of
2" and 2" depth is ideal and will comfortably hold the product of the
measured ingredients described above.
This lotion may be stored in a cool and secure place in well sealed
pots ready for use. They should be clearly labelled as 'Caustic' to
ensure that harmful results do not occur as the result of accidental
misuse. Large quantities are not necessary as only a little need be
applied to achieve maximum effect. It is well to note that this is an
economical preparation as use is made only of the parts of the Pepper
normally disposed of as too hot to use for normal cooking.
Application:
Care should be used when handling this very fiery lotion. It will be
necessary to immobilise the miscreant's hands and preferably his
ankles as well. His clothing will be as you prefer provided that
unrestricted access is allowed to his genitals.
With one hand, firmly grasp the penis shaft and agitate it until
blood flows freely to enlarge the head to full proportions. Then
anoint the whole by gently twisting and pushing the offending member
into the lotion, expect to hear cries of distress when the heating
takes hold, but ignore them as they will eventually diminish as the
fire subsides. This is a severe measure for repeat offenders and the
male must expect it to be unpleasant and disturbing. Excellent
results have been obtained with this astringent lotion. A cotton ball
may be used to rub the lotion on the remainder of the shaft for
further encouragement of good behaviour.
This may also be rubbed onto the penis or used in the pouch mentioned
earlier.
The Results:
After about one minute the worst pain begins, it is fairly severe
becoming very severe after about 4-5 minutes. When at its peak it
will fire intense waves of throbbing heat and burning through the
naughty member. Though not as severe as a good Chilli Cap it may be
intensified by rubbing harder.
