What are some of the better fictional books on BDSM? I know all about the known ones like "Story of O" (which may or may not be real). the sleeping beauty series, and the marketplace series, but does anyone have any other lesser known but just as hot books?

i do a lot of browsing on amazon for books - they have this 'if you enjoyed this book you might enjoy....' feature that's pretty cool.

some of my recent favs have been:

Owned and Owner

Safe Word and Carrie's Story

Two Moons

if you liked the books you mentioned, you'd probably like carrie's story and safe word - i like the ones that go a little further into fantasy, myself, although i also eat up the well written modern fiction ;)

More fictional and about fantasy than other thing, but very nice for Doms/Masters and subs/slaves are the books about Gor writen for John Norman.

When reading the post of Chicklet, my first think was about those books.

I like to read them.

The Story of O is fictional. "Pauline Reage" was the nom de plume of French author Anne Desclos, who also wrote under the pseudonym Dominique Aury. She essentially wrote the story on a dare, when her employer (and lover) Jean Paulhan told her that the Marquis de Sade said that a woman couldn't write an erotic novel.

Guess she disproved THAT supposition... :D

I think Sade's right. Both O and the Beauty series sucked, in my opinion. O was boring (though it probably woulda been hotter in French) and the Beauty series got real repetative, real quickly, and she kept changing perspectives and not in a good way. Might read a couple of the others reccomended here, might not.

I don't recall, but are The Puppy Papers fictional?

Not for the faint hearted, and definitely with a strong queer bent, but anything that Samuel R. Delaney has written is brilliant in my book, even when he doesn't quite succeed. Be warned, you need to be looking for a heavier, rather than lighter read. His book Dalghren won the Nebula award many years ago, has a bi protagonist.

that book is nonfiction, but it's not really erotica so much as a real life corrospondance between two people. not exactly masturbation material ;)

the story of o is really a mood killer. made me want to kill myself alongside the heroine at the end of the story.

whoops, did i ruin it?

The Marketplace series (5 in all) by Laura Antoniou. Not a bad readbut could use a little more spice.
