With a mighty yell, Captain Sky drove his horse into the center of what was left of the melee. His battle trained steed reared onto his hind legs and brought his forelegs down to connect with the helm of a man who had tried to sneak under the horses belly. The man went down without even a whimper, blood coursing down his face.
Sky's sword slashed this way, and cut that way. A path was opening up before him as battlelust took over his mind. Using the flat of the blade to smack a foe in the backside, Sky's mind wandered. When the battlelust was upon him, he moved with incredible skill. The man Sky had insulted with a blow to the backside turned to face him. The man let out a blood curdling yell as Sky's sword neatly sliced off the hand holding the battle mace. Sky turned to survey the battle scene as the man collapsed holding his stump.
The captain of the Kings Guard, Sir Galain, was making short work with the dregs of the enemy forces on the left flank. The aft flank was busy stripping the dead, and tending to the wounded after easily defeating the forces assigned them. His steed practically pranced in place, wanting for more action.
"Easy, Thunder. It looks like you and I live to fight another day." Turning to his page, Captain Sky commanded, "Right away get word to the battle chiefs. We will meet in the galley tent in ten minutes. If anyone objects, tell them that I Captain Sky command their presence."
As the page ran to do his bidding, Captain Sky turned once more to survey the battle scene. The healers were busy tending to the fallen and the Death tribe was busy hacking and chopping the fallen enemy for easier transport. Several times, Sky heard screaming as those of the enemy that weren't fully dead were dispatched. A smile formed on his lips as he gazed into the sky and found that very little time had elapsed since engaging their foes. If this was the best that King Hussick had to send against them, it would also be a very short campaign.
Leading his steed toward the galley, Captain Sky congratulated some and consoled others. His voice was clear and carried a great deal, heartening the troops that heard his words. Upon arriving, Sky found that most of his battle chiefs had already arrived in anticipation of his orders. Sky dismounted and a page took Thunder's reigns, leading him toward the stables. Sky stepped into the galley and the battle chiefs stood and saluted him with fists clasped over thier hearts. Sky stood and accepted the show of support his chiefs were offering him.
"Losses?" Sky asked.
"Sir, we have been fortuous this day as we have lost fewer than three hundred infantry, two dozen archers, and less than 10 mounts. The wounded number less than five hundred, sir!"
Sky took a moment to reflect on the numbers just presented him then stated, "Prepare the pyre for the dead, we will celebrate our victory while singing their souls on their way. Have the mounts butchered and the meat added to our stores. This is truly a good day for our Lord and Protector and I know that he would be proud of your efforts." Sky paused a moment to allow his men a chance to bask in the praise before continuing, "I come here to hear from each of you your thoughts on our next course of action. We have three cities to capture before winter lays it's icy hands upon the land. That gives us three months. Let me hear your plans..."
