The Games We Play [PM to Join]

OOC: I left Lit for quite awhile...one could blame writer's block. Alas, I could also say I grew bored with the commonality of threads. I felt I had "seen it all" and I'm sure there has been a thread like the one I'm about to suggest. However, I am still very much bored and I assume this type of thread may be able to pull me out of it...at least, I hope it will.

Anyway, I realize that some might find this thread...Immature. I want to tell you all that I intend for the role playing to be very mature indeed. In fact, I am basing this world off of the current Batman Begins movie...

The story takes place two full years after the movie, Bruce Wayne has become adept at crime fighting. His mansion has been rebuilt, his cave completed...his business prospering. He has met many villians as the Batman, but there is one he has yet to come across that will twist his every emotion and render him speechless in a way none could do before. She will taunt him, tease him, and pit him against himself in a way he never thought possible.

I intend for this villian to be Catwoman. This will be his first ever encounter with her. Please PM to audition for the role. Thank you kindly...

IC:

BATMAN
The Games We Play

He struck out early for patrol. The day was tiresome and trivial. Board meetings and company tasks had consumed his time during the daylight hours, but when the sun set...he became another person entirely...

The harsh wind of the skyscrapers and the cold steel of rooftops were of no comfort. He wrapped himself in his cape, long and flowing like a river of twilight around his body. Nothing had come in on the police bands for awhile. The night was quiet and for once it bothered him. Gotham nights were never dull and peaceful. Not this town where the average business man gets mugged coming home from work twice in a week. Yes, something wasnt right and it bothered him to no end.

Just then, as if shaking him from a dream, a small vibration was felt around his waist. He reached down and pulled a small pda from one of his belt compartments. It seemed a silent alarm was tripped at a nearby museum. Interesting...there were at least 15 high-end jewelry stores within the area.

Why there?...

Another shrill breeze hit him, whipping at his exposed lips. He sighed, licking at his lower lip before diving off of the ledge. With one swift motion he pulled out his grapple gun and shot, swinging just as it hooked into a building in the distance. He moved a few blocks down, coming upon the museum quickly.

He quickly noticed the skylight was damaged, but not cracked or broken. There was a perfect circle cut into the glass and the alarm wires that ran on the underside of the rim were cut. This must have triggered the silent alarm. The wires were there for the noise alarm, and when cut...alternately triggered a silent alarm. He almost smirked as he glimpsed the alarm manufacturer logo before entering the building...it read "Wayne Enterprises."

The general feeling inside was calm and eerie. He made a point to check all of the guards and their stations, but of no use. None of the men were dead, but all would be out for the night and wake up with horrendous headaches in the morning. This perp was decent. Anyone able to do all this must have some skill, but still nothing for him to be worried about...he'd delt with "skilled" burglars before. This was all so...routine. What could possibly go wrong?

OOC: To all those intending to auditon, I look forward to your PM. To all those content with reading, I hope you enjoy. Please leave any questions and comments in my Inbox. Thank you kindly.

OOC: *Bump* Just to get back on the first page. No takers yet eh? I understand. It's a challenging role to fill and isnt for everyone.

Actually I'd like a role even as a villian...a humours psychotic villian with bad puns and jokes...*hint*hint* lol. If not i'll play some other person...except alfred lol.

OOC: I'd be completely up for that Mr. J. *cough cough* However, I still need to fill the role of Selina Kyle before I think of adding other characters. I have yet to get a PM about the role. A tad disappointing really.

Selina/Catwoman

((I made Soru feel better! Yay me!! :) ))

She licked her lips as she peered down at the guard below her. What an oblivious thing he was. Walking about with his pistol- really, what good would that thing truly do? by the time he was able to aim it, some goon could have him flat on his back. It was far easier for her to just drop a container of sleeping gas in his vicinity. Within seconds, he was out. No fuss, no muss, and far less of a hassle.

"Night night, sweetie..," She cooed, dropping down from the rafters she had embedded herself between. The sounds of more footsteps caught her attention. Of course. It was never as easy as it seemed. She stepped back into the shadows, pressing herself tightly to the wall behind a coat of armor and waiting. No sooner had they passed her hiding spot than she jumped out, delivering a roundhouse kick to the back of the first one and a hard crack across the back of the head to the other. 2 more thuds as they fell to the ground. "Sorry boys."

She smirked again, sauntering across the tile floor to the display cases. Such beautiful artifacts... But only one was her reason for the visit- the Cat goddess Bastet figure. It only took her a matter of seconds to find it, sitting perfectly on its pedestal in the Egyptian wing, begging for someone to fetch it. She opened the black bag that hung from her back, removing the small black cat from within. "Isis.. go." The cat immediately bolted across the floor, leaping from one display to the next with ease, landing on the idol's stand. Instead of picking it up, the cat stared past her, arching its back and giving a deep growl. Damn. More company.

Expensive...

He rolled the smoke grenade around in his gloved hand, looking over to the unconscious guard sprawled out on the floor.

They arent stealing out of need, that's for sure.

He put the grenade away, tucking it behind him and into an unused compartment on his belt and, standing, he made his way down the dimly lit halls. The cape draped across the floor behind him as he walked slowly from corridor to corridor...and yet every room was untouched. This ment the perp was in search of one particular item.

Eventually he worked his way to the Egyptian Exihibit, peering cautiously around the corner to see something he did not entirely expect. His brow tilted upwards under the cowel as he gazed up and down the feminine figure wrapped in a black form-fitting body suit. The male inside of him stirred upon seeing her very enticing curves.

However, just as the thoughts entered his mind they were soon tucked neatly away and filed, letting the detective in him get back to work. He let his cape fold around his shoulders, hiding the two small bat-shaped boomarangs he pulled from his belt as he made his way into the room.

"Dont even think about it..."

His voice was low and cold, but harsh as if not practiced enough. It was true, he hardly spoke as the Batman...and even if he did, he used the rough accent that his billionaire playboy persona still wasnt used to.

She paused, only cocking her head slightly as she heard the deep voice behind her, a smile creeping onto her face once more. 5 simple words... and yet they were enough to send a spark down her spine. He sounded fun to toy with.

She turned slowly, the scrape of her heels echoing across the room as she faced him, her eyes wandering up his dark form. The black leather certainly knew how to hang just right on him as it did with her... If it hadnt been for the fact he was standing in her way, she would have thought him rather attractive. At the moment, however, he was only a nuicance.

She slowly raised her hands slightly, trying to give him the most innocent face she could muster. "Oh, dear, it seems you've caught me. Why, whatever shall I do..." Her fingers slid down her side, latching onto the whip residing on her right hip. "You can either move.. or I'll just walk right over you."

Hmm...intimidation is out, on to plan "B".

Sirens could be heard approaching the building. The police had arrived faster than he anticipated. They were getting better. He'd have to mention something to Gordon next time he saw him. He slid a foot back, narrowing his eyes on the female before him.

Then, swiftly he jumped forward...his arms lashing out and releasing the two batarangs. One hit the exhibit room's alarm panel while the other hit the wall directly behind the masked woman. It made a whisper of a "beep" followed by a clicking noise. As he landed a few feet from her, large metal bars shot out from the side of the doorways and steel shutters closed on any and all windows. The room was completely sealed off.

He stood, pulling out a few small marble shaped objects from his belt. He held them, concealed in his hand and behind his dark cape.

"Last chance..."

He stretched out his other hand to her, his eyes were deadly serious.

"Me or the police..."

The two of them could hear voices entering the museum. The Gotham PD had arrived.

"Either way, you are going to jail."

((Apologies if this post sucks. I'm very tired tonight but still wanted to contribute before hitting the sack.))

She gave an aggrivated growl as the gates fell, shooting him a glare. This was certainly turning out to be a longer task than she anticipated. Her eyebrow raised at his extended hand, her mouth now a thin line as she stared at him. She had no intentions on trying to fight him in the middle of the exhibit. There were far too many artifacts that could be damaged... and that was not why she was there. Still, she had a few extra tricks up her sleeve.
"Jail... now that's not quite the vacation I was planning," She said flatly, her right leg suddenly arching high into the air, moving quickly for his jaw. His outstretched hand darted up, blocking the leg and latching onto it. She gave a surprised yelp, standing with her leg held high. Strong hands. Nice.
Still, she wasn't going to let this slow her. She was NOT going with those cops, and she was sure as hell not going with him. "Isis!", she shouted as her left leg swung up, using the leverage his strong hold provided as momentum to twist her body in midair.
The cat heard its signal, snatching the small idol into its mouth, leaping from the stand and scampering about the corner, fitting easliy between the bars.

Persistant lil thing...

He was tempted to let himself smirk infront of her, but dropping the stone cold impression was, unfortunatly...out of the question.

He cocked his head back to see flashlight beams sweeping the hallway just outside the exhibit. With a bit of a sigh, he turned back to face the woman.

"Let's take this outside."

He let the small marble-like balls drop from his hand as he dove at her, taking her by the waist and pulling her quite close as he turned in mid air, his back now facing the wall as he flew towards it. With his free hand he pressed a small button on his belt and just as he was about to crash into the wall, the bataran implanted a few feet above them ignited, creating a hole for them both to go through.

As the police officers got to the exhibit room, the small marble shaped objects scattered about the floor began to hum, then large amounts of black smoke erupted forth from them.

Crashing through the wall and into the next room, Bruce looked up and saw a skylight. He'd remembered their locations from when he entered. The GPS inside his cowel didnt hurt any either...

With a quick tug, he pulled out his grapple gun and shot a cord out through the skylight. It caught onto the ledge of a building much higher and lifted the two out onto the roof. He shielded her from the shattered glass with his cape, eventually landing with her still in his arms. For a moment the two paused in an awkward silence...

She stared at him as they landed, not sure what the hell was going on anymore. "So- what now?," she asked flatly. "Still planning to turn me in, are you?" She glanced over the ledge, though still hadn't moved from his arms. She slowly looked back up at him, trying to peer through the cowel. "You're hiding something as well. We both have our reasons for doing what we do..." Her hand slid up, meeting the very edge of the cowel, touching his exposed cheek.

"You had your chance back there to just leave me to the cops. You had me trapped like a mouse... and yet... you brought me up here. Are you toying with your prey?" She smiled, moving her fingers to his lips. "Isn't that MY job...?" She moved closer, looking up at him. "You fascinate me," she whispered, now inches from his face.

Bruce found himself gazing down into her own eyes, those amazingly feline orbs of hers. It had been ages since he was with a woman, let alone one so...different. Soon enough though he was sharply brought back to reality when he heard the thundering hustle of policemen up the stairs to the building's roof.

He pushed her away, he shouldnt be swayed like that so easily. Something about her that nagged at his mind...something he was missing. As he pulled his hand away from her waist he slipped a small tracker on her about the size of a dime, then just as swiftly he used the grapple gun to pull him up into the air, he cape flowing out and forming his signature bat-like appearance.

"Call it a second chance."

He said as he looked down to her as she disappeared in the distance...

Even as he pulled himself up over the ledge and leaned against the building's concrete he could hear the police take down the door that led to the roof, no doubt by force. Their loud voices echoed through the night air below.

That had been quite enough excitement for one night. Soon he was home in the confines of his mansion. A cold shower later and he was dozing off for the few hours he had until daylight.

Next afternoon...

Bruce, in a black suit and sunglasses...his hair slicked back, made his way down the isles of the department store. It was Alfred's birthday in a few days and the young billionaire had yet to get him a present. He sighed, scratching the back of his head as he lazily looked over a set of golf clubs.

However his mind kept drifting back to his encounter the night before. Who was she? Would he even see her again? His mind raced with so many questions that he almost missed his cellphone ringing. He pulled it from his coat pocket and answered casually.

"Bruce Wayne."

A female voice answered, young and quite energetic.

"Mr. Wayne you are running late. You have an appointment with a Ms. Selina Kyle in ten minutes. Shall I reschedule?"

He rolled his eyes and grabbed the golf clubs, hurling them over his shoulder as he made his way to the checkout.

"No no, I'll be there. Stall her for me hun. Tell her that joke you know."

That last line seemed to be a running gag on his part. He'd used it several times before when running late because of certain "obligations". He hung up the phone, paid for the clubs, and rushed out to the parking garage.

Twenty minutes later...

The elevator doors opened and he stepped through. His stride was long and powerful like that of a King. He made his way across the office until he came to the conference room. He quickly opened the door and stepped in. As he expected she was waiting for him, but unlike what he expected she was sitting in his chair.

He raised a brow as he moved across the room to her and extended his hand.

"Ms. Kyle. Nice to meet you. I apologize for making you wait like this."

He motioned for her to sit and he did as well, grabbing a manilla folder off of the table and flipping through the pages within. His secretary was the best, he'd have to give the girl a raise. Ms. Kyle was one of the many real estate brokers competing to get exclusive rights to Wayne Enterprises' accounts.

"Ms. Kyle, I only surround myself with the best. With that in mind, show me what you've got."

OOC: I dont know if this is your thing, so feel free to sum up the meeting and continue with her going out as Catwoman at night if you want. Either way I look forward to your post.

((Thought we could give them a little time as themselves.))

Selina smiled as he came in, getting up from the chair and shaking his hand. "Nice chair," she said with a smirk, taking the seat opposite him, slipping a loose piee of hair back into her blonde bun. "I'm out of the office quite often. I'd love to get something like that for the occasional stops I do make."

She watched as he opened the folder, setting her own portfolio on the table and opening it. "Mr Wayne, there are many opportunities for wayne Enterprises to branch out within Gotham. I'm determined to be the one helping you accomplish that. Once I have my mind set on something, I swear to follow through until its acchieved." She smiled. "I've been told I'm just a bit stubborn, but I suppose that's a plus in this line of work." Something about him attracted her attention. This was the first meeting she had set with him, and yet... she felt like she had met him before. How... odd.

She slid a paper from her booklet, handing it to him across the table. "Here are my last percentages, Mister Wayne. Each client has had a greater profit increase since leaving their prior location." She waited as he glanced it over, her own eyes takign in the room. She smiled as she saw the tiger painting and various animal figures. "You're an animal lover, I see. How wonderful."

He simply smiled, glancing over to the paintings on the far wall. He hired a decorator some time ago to spruce up the place and none of the paintings were chosen by him. However, he decided to roll with it and see what happened.

"Yes, after all..they are our only neighbors on this planet right?"

He mustered up a rehearsed laugh and then looked out the window getting an idea in his head. His eyes moved back to hers...strange, he'd seen those same eyes before...he was sure of it. With a slight cough he turned to her and spoke again.

"This room is quite stuffy, how about we go over the rest of this at lunch?"

Selina smiled. "Lunch sounds wonderful, Mister Wayne." She stood up slowly, following him out, her portfolio tucked neatly under her arm behind her purse. Her eyes widened slightly as he asked the young woman to bring up the limo. "Oh my. I've... never been in a limo," She confessed, blushing slightly. "Perhaps after lunch we could stop by some prospective buildings for your next project? There are few on the East side I think would be absolutely wonderful for you." She frowned as another hair fell into her face, brushing it back up again.

Bruce knew how to wine and dine a lady...even ones he did business with. He took her to a well known italian restaurant on the upper part of Gotham. He always had a table reserved and their wine was the best in town. The dining area was dimly lit by tall candles on each table with accent lights hanging on the walls.

The hours blew by like minutes and eventually lunch turned to dinner without the two even realizing it. They meshed quite well together. He could actually talk...and not have to bring out some rehearsed line. All of it felt true and good. No excuses, no backstories...just old fashioned dinner conversation. It was safe to say he was very taken with Selina.

The two were having a great time, that is, until they were interrupted by Bruce's cell going off. He pulled it from his coat pocket hanging on the chair behind him and answered quickly.

"Bruce Wayne."

It was Alfred on the other end. It seemed he would have to cut the night short. An armored car had just been hijacked and the police were taking a beating. He simply nodded following a "See you soon." Then, looking over to a curious Selina he smiled awkwardly and stood, slipping on his coat.

"I'm quite sorry Selina, something has come up and I must be off. I'll get back in touch with you I promise."

He had probably apologized a dozen times before he got her to the limo. Once she was safely off he made his way down the street and into a nearby alleyway. A few moments later Alfred was along in the Rolls-Royce Phantom. A car Bruce was especially fond of. He swiftly hopped in, changing into his "nightly" attire. Once done he thanked Alfred and disappeared into Gotham's streets, making his way to the rooftops...

Later that night...

One hijacking, two hold ups, and most recently a drug bust later...Bruce found himself sitting atop a gargoyle statue looking over Gotham's skyline. It truly was a beautiful view up above all the chaos and danger. He let his foot dangle off the edge as he thought back to Selina. She was quite the woman, funny...smart...elegant.

Once again his day dreaming was cut short as a small beeping noise caught his attention. It was the tracking device he slipped on that female burglar the other night. Seems she was out again, and close too...

All seemed well so far. She had made it into the jewelry store without triggering any alarms, easily made it through the skylight, and avoided the cops while on her escape. There was also no sign of that intriguing bat... Part of her wished he would show, while the thief within her scolded her for even thinking that way. She moved quickly along the rooftops, then leaps between ledges easily graced.

She paused, hearing that newly familiar flutter of fabric behind her. She smirked, standing still and waiting. "Well. I was wondering if you were going to come out and play...," She said softly, not turning. "Planning to frisk me?" She spread her arms, smirking still. "Go right ahead. Think we'll both enjoy it."

OOC: Sorry this is going to be short. I've been slightly busy lately.

There was no way he was going to get that close to her unless it were on his terms. He lept off of the ledge, twisting and turning in the air so that when he landed infront of the thief, he was also facing her.

"Go home. Quit this while you can."

He did a backflip off of the ledge of the building and when she looked down there was no trace of him.

Later that evening...

He had been staring at the pda for a long time. The tracker was still on her and he was puzzled. It led him to Selina Kyle's loft, where he watched as the thief slipped in with ease.

He made his way inside, looking around in the dark...wondering what he'd find.

She slid the back door of her apartment open, stepping inside and stripping the suit from her skin as she walked. Soon she was in nothing but a black silk thong, going towards her bedroom. She picked up the suit, folding it neatly and stashing it and her prize in the farthest corner of her closet behind a loose panel. As she came from the bedroom, a small black cat darted out from the other room. She smiled, picking it up and nuzzling it against her breasts, pausing as she heard a noise from the balcony. "What the hell...?," She whispered, dropping the cat and starting slowly towards the noise, picking up the poker from the fireplace as she passed. It wasn't a strong weapon, but it was the best she could find at the moment.
She gasped as something moved in the shadows next to her. She turned aorund quickly, holding the poker out. "Who's there?!," she demanded.

He quickly took hold of her hand, gripping tightly as he looked down to her naked form. He had to admit, her figure was quite arousing, but he knew what had to be done.

Bruce took the poker and tossed it away as he lifted her up so she was eye level with him, her toes dangling just above the carpet.

"Why are you doing this?"

He almost pleaded with her, but as she remained quiet he gazed over her figure and just like that it was as if he wasnt in control anymore. His lips were on hers, pressing against them forcefully...but a second later he let her go and stepped away...his eyes wide open as if in fear. He quickly turned about and dove off the balcony, eventually disappearing into the cityscape.

What am I doing?

Selina stood there, her eyes wide as he fled out the window, her hand against her lips. "Wh...wha..," she stammered, trying to figure out what had just happened. It didn't take long to click. Dammit! He followed me- Should've cheked for bugs when he grabbed me before... Idiot! But- What the hell was THAT?!

She slowly smiled, running her fingers against her lips once more. That...WAS... rather nice... I think I was right about the bat...

In moments, she was back in her black leather suit, jumping from the window and hunting for him. The obvious place to start was the worst possible place for someone like her- atop the Gotham police station, to turn on his signal. She used the tip of her high heeled boot to click the light on, hiding into the shadows in case any officer noticed it. You're such a fool, Selina... What the hell are you doing? You should be running from him, not hunting him down. You're going to get yourself thrown in jail.... But that still didn't drive her from the rooftop.

The sound of his cape fluttered in her ears. She smiled, staying in the darkness. "You don't just kiss a girl and run out like that... Of anyone, I'd figure you to have some proper manners, Batman."

He stared at her coldly, his arms crossed as the cape fluttered around him in the wind.

"Number one, this signal isnt a toy and number two...that kiss was an accident. One that wont be repeated."

He almost growled out that last line.

That's right Bruce...cold shoulder. Stay cold. Be mean.

Of course he didnt want to say that to her...he wanted to take her right on this rooftop, but unfortunatly that was way out of the question.

OOC: Again, sorry. Looong hectic day.

She smiled, flicking the light off. "Oh, I know... I've got my own collection of...toys. Yours is just far more fascinating." She glanced at him, the smile growing.

It faded quickly as she moved closer, her own arms folding. "An accident..? No, that can't be possible. The great Batman NEVER has accidents." She cocked her head to the side. "You asked me why... why I do this... But thats something you just wouldn't understand. That's what frightens you, isn't it? You can't understand me... Or is it because you can't understand yourself?"

She drew closer still, her fingers now going to ride along his chest. "That's what it is, isn't it... Behind that solemn stare is a man with desires, isn't there... A man that liked what he saw... A man who's fighting to restrain his carnal side." Her one hand slid lower, setting against his belt. "Stop fighting... Let him free, Batman."

A deep sigh was released from him as his arms fell from his chest and his hands rested on her hips, that long dark cape billowing around the two. He moved in closer, his hands sliding down to cup her ass cheeks in that tight leather body suit.

His voice was low and hushed as if he wanted to whisper.

"I do want this..."

Everything in his mind was telling him to stop. Alarms were going off, red flags were raised but his body just kept going, his hands caressing...his girth growing. It was as if two parts of him were fighting for control.

"...but I cant."

He moved away, his gloved fingers sliding across her body suit...lingering for as long as possible before he turned his back to her.

"You dont know me...Selina."

She paused. He knew her name. Her real name.... She slid the mask free of her face, letting her hair fall onto her shoulders as she stared at him. "You really are everywhere, aren't you..," she whispered, shaking her head. "And here I thought I was hiding so well. I suppose that's impossible with you. You can find anyone... except yourself, it seems."
She shivered, glancing towards the doorway into the station, hearing the sounds of approaching officers. They must have noticed the signal. "We can keep playing these cat-and-mouse games, Batman... but once you're ready to stop- well, you know where I am. Its up to you if you want to turn me in. Just know that I won't go without a fight. I have far too much at stake to just give up." She blew him a kiss, running for the edge of the building. "Good night, my prince." And with that, she was gone.
