Basic Male Instinct?

OK yes, this is another rant about the famous Mr Anonymous and his comments. I had a comment last night for a story that I admit isn't my best, or even very good. Well yeah, it's crap that I posted prematurely because I just wanted to be done with it.

But the comment mentioned that the husband (the wife is having an affair with a woman) should react to his 'BASIC MALE INSTINCT and beat the shit out of the wife', and throw her out.

Really? Beat the Shit out of someone? Literally? C'mon, doing that you're going to get it on you. And end up in jail.

Is that what a MAN is supposed to do to a woman, who is presumably smaller, has less upper body strength, isn't brought up to use physical violence? I grew up believing that a woman is to be protected, cherished, catered to.

Is this really the 'Basic Male Instinct'? I know there are a lot of battered wives out there. I know it is bad, but while I may have had urges to do bodily harm to other men for various reasons in my life. I never did. Well, in civilian life anyway. I would never hit a woman. What kind of man would? What would bring a man to believe that he not only could do that, but should do that?

My wife was in an abusive relationship, we've been married nearly 20 years, the other relationship ended more than 35 years ago, yet even now a loud sudden noise will make her yelp. If I drop a pan in the kitchen she breaks out in a sweat and nearly cries - after a quick scream. Anyone who does that to a woman needs to be strung up by his balls. With piano wire. And left for the crows.

Yet time and time again I've gotten comments on my very few LW stories with similar content. Somehow I doubt that these guys are the ones that actually beat their wives/girlfriends. I suspect they are the ones who can't get a woman in the first place, but the casual reference to doing that kind of harm to a woman. Geeze. These guys need to start acting like real men. Christ, the next thing you know they'll start hitting their dogs. Now that is really bad.

Isn't it much better to show her how much she missed by finding a better woman to go out with you? Or pitching woo again, try to win her back? After all there must have been something good about her that attracted you to her in the first place.

But beat her up, throw her out? C'mon guys, grow yourselves a pair. And grow up.

Or am I just a wimp, as has been suggested?

My basic instinct is to move on and don't come back. I don't do 2nd chances with anyone. If you wanna hurt me I'm gonna fall on you like Dorothys house. But I don't throw the first punch or sucker punch. I don't stalk, I don't PM, I don't write you poems.

Greg, Greg, Greg, you take the rantings of idiots too seriously.

Relax, take a breath, sit back, sip you drink de la journée and laugh at the morons that inhabit the Loving Wives category.

Every story I ever wrote for that cat was lambasted by one group or another. And I wrote the complete gambit, from wife cheating without hubby knowing, wife cheating with hubby knowing, hubby selling wife, right up to hubby killing wife along with her lover and the lovers wife.

All were loathed by the moron faction.

I would just laugh, knowing I struck a cord.

I also received comment about how the reader loved the story.

It's about catering to a revenge fantasy in guys who feel inferior to some woman or have been fleeced in a divorce or something. Some people will routinely 1-bomb your ass unless your story is concluded with an over-the-top revenge scenario. To be honest, I find most nuclear btb stories boring, and a few of them even left me feeling sorry for the cheater.

In real life, my "male instinct" is to go make myself a sandwich - tuna with extra mayo.... http://s23.postimg.org/rc9yrfevr/eat.gif

I take it this was in Loving Wives? I certainly sympathize with your rant, but I also have to point out that complaining about such comments on a story posted in LW is a little like complaining about bombs going off in a minefield and damaging the tree you planted there.

Probably dating myself, but I remember a scene with Clint Eastwood and Sandra Locke.

He confessed to catching his wife sleeping with his best friend and shooting her.

"Her?!" Sandra's character asked. "What about him?!"

"Well, nothing. He was my best friend."

I honestly don't remember just how old I was, but I probably wasn't old enough to be watching an R-Rated movie. And even then, I was scratching my head thinking, "shot the wife and... huh?" while people around me were snickering.

Anyway, in my checkered past, I've done things that have pretty well sealed my machismo as a very real and done deal. I shan't bore with the details since time has pretty well rendered most of them irrelevant except for the people who were there and can still remember it.

However, I can only remember one time in my life that I ever got angry with one of the fairer sex for doing something that I felt impinged on my masculine honor and decided to "get even". So, I loosened the training wheels on her bike while no one was around.

Then, I turned five and started to school and figured out just how moronic that sort of neolithic behavior was.

"Ugh. Me name Ugg. Me club pretty blonde hair and take back to cave."

Yeah, not for me thanks. The way I figure it, if some poor gal doesn't realize what she had with all this fabulousness <belch>, excuse me, then the best revenge is forgetting all about her.

"Marni? I don't think... Oh, hey. Of course I remember you. It was... um... twenty years ago on that trip to Phoenix, right?"

Which, of course, it wasn't but her arch-rival Lori (and her best friend Becky). Which she damn well knows. :D

But, beat her up? Nah. I'm not a candy-ass looking to reaffirm my masculinity because the world is too strong for me to tangle with by taking it out on someone I find that isn't quite as strong and can't stand up to me. Nor am I possessed of an intellect too limited to think of any other way to deal with the slings and arrows of romantic misfortune.

In case you haven't noticed the majority of posters in lw are male and the kind to urge violence against women

And lit is a perfect haven for them. Lit promotes violence towards women and protects men in their rules on "storyside" and on the boards.

Outside of the writing forums if you're a woman you are treated like garbage unless you want to show your tits and act like a whore.

Lit is driven by real men the kond that rape and beat women but would cower in a real fight

Tbe site is a disgrace for women pure and simple

If it upsets you it says good things about you as a person but you're wasting your time being upset because you'll just be called a pussy whipped fag by the real men.

My Basic Male Instinct is to hump anything that looks like a donut or a leg.

Using the "beating the shit out of them" response is one we even find occasionally here on the forums--and some posters have even voiced pride for having been jailed for it, so there shouldn't be great surprise to find such a solution given to story dilemmas too.

It does seem to be more of a basic instinct for males than females, but it's not exactly one to be proud of or cultivate, I don't think.

But, as 3113 noted, it shouldn't take a Lit. author long to realize they were asking for it by posting to Loving Wives--or that it is tiresome to see complaints about the choice they made here on the forum constantly--like they had invented the wheel on this or something.

I can give you a first hand example of "basic Male instinct" being just fine here no matter what that instinct is to do to women.

I had a series up and in one chapter I described how the female lead had been gang raped in the past. I did not do it "live" it was flashback, but three or so paragraphs of brutal detail that had people e-mailing me with "Holy shit that was horrible comments" it was so graphic that after my muse pushed me through it I have, to this day, never reread it.

The next chapter I described how she took her revenge which was in a ritualized killing where she severed their cocks off.

Guess which chapter was reported and pulled and which one wasn't it? Some squeamish real man got upset and reported it and the person running the site who kisses male instinct ass agreed and pulled the story.

It is glaringly obvious that there is no amount of sexual torture that is not acceptable here, but the penis is sacred. A very republican site it appears.

Even the alleged rape rule which was recently defined as a "tricky" states that is rape seems to fit the story then it is okay. Now let's see.....

There is a non consent section. By definition non consent is rape. So if rape no matter how graphic and brutal occurred in a non consent story then its okay! Tricky isn't it? How about wink wink nudge nudge?

Also mentioned by the mod who posted the new rule is that the rule can no longer be argued in her forum. I thought this was a freedom of speech site?

Well it is. If you're either a man or a woman who says, "Yes I am a whore, beat me rape me and call me a cunt."

So the vileness and vitriolic hatred aimed at women here goes on with the full support of the site under the convenient guise of freedom of speech, but in reality its business because if real men feel their tiny pecker is threatened they will not read here.

And they will find other places to go because hiding behind a keyboard is what they do best, or if they get violent it is towards a woman, I mean why risk the beating you would get from someone who hits back.

Four months ago one of my women students broke the arm of her ex boyfriend when he tried to assault her.

I told her on one hand I was proud of her. On the other I was upset she didn't break the other one and hurt him worse because there would have been no limit to what he would have done to her.

I guess she wouldn't be welcome here, but her potential rapist would be a hero.

Don't believe me? Just go to story ideas, every thread somehow turns into non consent

want great "does it fit the story example?" I'm fond of the one of the woman gang raped in an office and bent over a coier screaming and begging for mercy while having pens and pencils shoved in her holes.

That was a very tricky story wasn't it?

Filth inhabits this site. Gutless male filth.

And in case you're wondering in r/l I think I have maybe three male friends. Tons of women friends, but few men are comfortable around me. I wonder why?

because I don;t have tits and can hit back. Literapica is a haven for their kind.

Youre boring cuz youre a whiny titless feminist.

There you go, 49Greg. You don't even have to go to the story file to hear from the "gotta kill 'em; my dick is too small" knuckle draggers.

Genital mutilation of either men or women is pretty hard for me to stomach and I wouldn't want to see it in a story.

I'm not exactly a fan of Noncon and I hardly ever stray there, but I think part of the reason why rape fics are tolerated has to do with rape being such a common fantasy. It's one of the most common sexual fantasies among women (being a victim of rape) and although it's not my fantasy I suspect it's a common one among men (doing the raping).

And honestly, as long as it stays fantasy is it such a big deal? Genital mutilation is different because it's not an erotic fantasy for any normal person.

I realize -- even without having read the story -- you weren't writing it to be erotic, but I think it's fine for the site to put limitations on violent content.

The type of idiot that would beat the hell out of a woman is too stupid to realize that it is his own behavior that drives a woman away from him. Because, let's be honest. He sure as hell isn't going to be a charmer in other parts of their relationship.

Your PC is showing.

There's research out there that confirms females lead the parade when it comes to domestic violence. Females, especially black females, top every category of violence except one: Males do more tissue damage. Girls start the fights, and the boys finish the fights. Females prefer bad boys.

Another surprise is: Rapists generally catch sexual diseases from their victims.

You don't hafta like me but you have no basis for your claim other than the mire you wallow in. I'd likely be sad in your world.

My response had nothing to do with whether I like you or not. And no, I don't like you too much, come to think of it. My response had to do with your using my profile name in response to LC's comment. Now, why don't you finally ig me, you misogynist asshole. Apparently, you can dish it out, but can't take it. Quelle surprise.

I think as evolved beings that we have the choice; no matter what our sex, to allow instincts to control us or to control them. The fight or flight is an instinct no one thinks is a bad one as it saves life, limb and sometimes the heart. The instinct to mate is another instinct that no one thinks anything of. Males have the instinct when sexually aroused to thrust their hips. It's all about time, place and appropriateness. For instance during bdsm play it is very appropriate to grab a gal by her hair and drag her about. Out in the world, such an act can be seen as abusive. In the bdsm play it is seen as part of a deep, trusting and loving relationship. It's all about context as I see it.

Someone else suggest you F.O.? Prolly.

In my younger years I usta test hunches about human instinct. For the most part folks go one of two directions: They go along & get along or they struggle. BDSM is Make Believe World, and its easy to walk into the game and walk out with the Dom's woman. I've done it.
