Genre Choice

My first advice is to always finish the story entirely before worrying about the category.

So, let's say at the end, you have a story that could possibly fit into multiple categories here. Fine.

I guess then, the dilemma for you is deciding what you want to get out of publishing your story. If views are the objective, then categories such as Loving Wives, Taboo/Incest (your gym buddy turns out to be your husband's first cousin?), or similar. If you want higher ratings, avoid LW like a plague. The response in many other categories will depend almost entirely on the sexual activity and how that resonates with the readers.

Now, Novels/Novellas is a place I know well... unlike some here who can't fathom reading, never mind writing a story over 5K words.

I currently have eleven stories published in the category, ranging from 53K words to over 177K words, all of which have a red H, with most sitting at 4.8x. Each story is completely stand-alone, with several having intertwined characters in totally different plots and circumstances. While it is true that the number of views isn't as high as in other categories, I believe that the reader engagement aspects are among the best on the site. Readers make a greater investment of their time with stories in this category and that is reflected in the votes-per-view and comments-per-view statistics that I have tracked and many other authors have noted.

My recommendation would be for you to finish the entire story, including parts that you think might make it too long. Share the finished work with your SO or someone else who's opinion you trust. Then decide.

It is easier to break a story up than to piece it together for readers to fully appreciate as you had intended.

Story is finished.... that's what led me to ponder on genre

You give some sound advice, and maybe I should find a beta reader (not been that successful though in the past so usually end up going my own way and sometimes--I am assuming from the rating--I do land in the wrong place).

Let me give it some thought, but thanks to you and everyone else who has given me considerations.

Your post above implied that there was the potential for a sequel when the "other door" gets opened.

My point is that if you're holding back writing additional relevant content due to a fear of the story being too long, go ahead and write it now. The length of the story should not be a deterrent to telling the tale the way that you want. It can always be broken up or split into multiple parts once you are done with it.

Is this really a thing? I did a slight double-take -- unless it's YAMF (yet another male fantasy).

You don't have to be a cuckqueen for a wife to have an MFF fantasy. I would say its even common among women who were bisexual before getting married and see it as the easiest path to keep that other door open.

I can also tell you that my wife believes that, objectively, there is no sex position in the world better than having another woman 69ing her while she and I make love. No part of that belief includes any of the psychodynamics of an MFF or marriage. It's simply her strong preference for a woman's mouth and a man's penis, at the same time, as the singularly most satisfying form of stimulation possible.

So yes, it's definitely a thing, for many reasons.

Yes it is a thing. It's not super popular as far as I can tell but yes there are women who get off watching their man fuck another woman.

However, the guys out there will all love this arrangement. "So, you're telling me that my wife actually not only wants me to sleep around, but she's willing to arrange the whole thing for me and I won't have to lift a finger?? Damn! Where do I sign up?? (splooge!)" Yeah, this story is gonna have a TON of horny male fans regardless of the quality of the writing.
