Baseball-sized hail.

batten down the hatches... that storm looks likes it could do some damage. I hope it stalls out before you get the red stuff. Hell, I hope it stalls out before it gets here too.

The wind gusts - wow. Up to 80 miles an hour they're saying. That's a Level One hurricane (Who knew? Not me - I'm certain shereads knows.)

But the trees in the back yard are bending with the strain and they've said trees are down across town.

I have seen this phenomenon. Usually I close all the blinds when it's a bad storm, in case something hits a window, but one time I wasn't quick enough and got to watch just about everything in the landscape that I could see kind of go flat in slow motion. I think that was the storm where I went to the basement.

Be well. :rose:

I hope you and yours are faring well.

Ah, late spring in the midwest. I suppose this means I should do the mowing and hang out the sheets now rather than wait until later.

Thanks, everyone! Wow. that was bizarre!

First round is done, it's dumping all over Missouri now, lots of wind and rain and hail.

It's tracking south east instead of north east like most storms do. Which means it's possible that it'll hit us... just depends on how far south it's made it by the time it gets to this area.

Be careful.

Yes, it's tracking south east. Isn't that insane?

It's ferocious. The pictures on the news from west of us are frightening.

They were instructing people to go to their basements because of the hail. The straight line winds blew hail into houses, breaking windows.

Be careful, Crim. You and yours. Once this hits, stay indoors and stay safe.

Yeah, when I saw the radar, my first thought was... it's too far north, it won't hit us. Then I decided I'd better hit the animate to see which way it was going. It is weird that it's tracking south east. I don't know why some storms go against the grain and go the opposite direction of the norm. I'll keep an eye on it throughout the afternoon. It's far enough away that it'll take a little while to get to us.

We don't have a basement (can you believe it? We live in tornado alley and still most houses aren't built with basements), so we'll just have to stay away from the windows if it hits.

Thing is... my legs and knee hurts. Something's coming.

Sounds like an investment is shutters would be a good idea. Always wondered what those things were for. Out here, they're all decorative. Back where you guys live . . . sheesh!

We have shutters, but they are only of the decorative variety. The living room will be the best place for us. The windows are somewhat protected as the deck is behind them, so that part of the house is recessed. The wind blows across the part that juts out (a bedroom) and has to come around it to get to the living room windows. One of those have heavy curtains covering it, so nothing will come through it.

Glad to hear you're safe, sarahh. *HUGS*

Hope you stay safe, Crim. *HUGS* for you too.

Damn that sucker's moving fast. Unfortunately, the way it's tracking at the moment... it's headed straight for us (the ugly red and yellow part). There's a smaller cell (much smaller) that's almost here. It's dotted with red and yellow, but I'm guessing it's nothing major as there are no watches or warnings out at the moment.

Update: We are now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. It's still headed straight for us; however, the cell seems to have diminished some in size.

It may play itself out before it gets here. Each time I check, the cell has diminished in size.
