Banning Clarification

someone clarify this for me: how do you all know as soon as someone has been banned? is there some effect on their past postings or are they just missed?

also: how does one know that they themself has been banned? do you get an email telling you so? do your posts just not show up?

Truth. The rampant trolls ruin the reputation of the board. The GB has gone to shit.

And....your own self censorship by... mental/physical IGGY is not enough? So much not enough that the very precepts of a somewhat free marketplace of ideas is... negotiable? It's more lazy than hypocritical! It's abhorrent! This place is an open forum only when it suits you?

The Fuck!

REPORTED - Fuck that Noise!

The only thing I can think of is that if you've been banned once, your margin for error going forward is basically nonexistent.

Not one fuck was given.

banned, unbanned, unbanned for 16 years of excellence,
warnings, no warnings,
rules, no rules,
the Sacred Guidelines!,
a dead bulletin board,
with bitter clingers,
unable to let go,
return on their life investment,
hoping for renewal,
a new youth,

just a bulletin board.
Chat is still broken.

I've read them you twat. Christ it's like pulling teeth.

ALLOW ME TO REQUOTE THE LAST BIT:

Anything else goes. You may post whatever you like. Consequently, so can everyone else. The administrators here don't believe they are anyone's parents nor are they anyone's Jiminy Cricket. It's not their responsibility to make sure that everyone on the site uses free speech responsibly. It's up to individual users to be responsible for themselves

No email. Usually warnings before. You just can't login anymore, and it flags up (to you) you are denied access (ish).

Okay Cleaver Beaver, I'm printing that bad boy out and laminating it.

This was my impression, as well. Conversely, those having a clean record until now have a little more leeway.

One direct tell is that they no longer have an avatar where one once stood not a day ago.

Some members don't have one to begin with, but more often than not, if you've put in time and roots here in developing your persona, you'll have put an avatar up because it's your flair flag...and rarely will take it down outright if not to switch it up.

Things went to shit when Jammiedodger left. Never been the same. :(

It's up to individual users to be responsible for themselves

Which includes any opinion, personal information, or pictures which they may choose to loose into this insane world. Jiminy Cricket expressly is not here to protect any of you from... yourselves.

You forgot to include all the ruley bits that preceded the excerpt you posted.

Forum Guidelines

1. You must be 18 years or older to read or participate at Literotica.
2. You may not post sexually explicit pictures or stories featuring anyone under 18 years old. Literotica does not allow the posting of underage or animal sex pictures - or links to such, or text/story posts/links to advocation thereof - on the forum. This includes discussions and/or accusations involving pedophilia and/or child sex abuse. Please Click Here for our full photo posting guidelines.

3. Do not upload copyrighted images or post articles in their entirety. Fair use laws allow some posting of copyrighted material, such as excerpts from articles and screen captures from movies, under certain circumstances. Please do a Google search under "Fair Use" if you want to understand this issue better. Also, out of respect for other users, please limit your excerpts to less than 5 paragraphs.

4. You may not post personal information of other members or, for that matter, anyone else. We do not allow phone numbers, email addresses, private messages or quotes from private emails to be posted on the forum. This rule also covers real names, employment info, and any other personal information that we deem inappropriate.

5. Do not threaten other people. Do not post images or words directly or indirectly implying threats of physical harm.

6. Any post or PM made with the intent of promoting another site or a product will be removed. Spam is strictly forbidden. You may not send unsolicited PM's or emails to other users trying to promote other websites or products. Literotica is not a place to promote other websites, and we are very strict on this issue. If you abuse this policy, you will be banned. If you persist, your ISP will be contacted.

7. Please do not blatantly "advertise" for other websites in your signature. We allow non-commercial links to other people's personal websites in sigs, but please do not beg people to click on your link, make it huge and/or flashing, or otherwise be obnoxious.

We do not allow links to any adult pay sites. We also reserve the right to remove signatures which link to sites with numerous annoying pop-ups, viruses, or anything else potentially harmful to people's computers. If you turn your signature into an advertisement, we will ask you to change it. Do not start threads with the URL in the header.

8. You cannot use a URL/site address as your membername. If you do so, we will ask you to change your name.

9. Flooding the forum with posts, screen-breaking text, or images - or bumping old threads - and/or any non-substantive activity with the intent of disrupting the forum is prohibited.

10. Please do not post story submissions to the forums. You may post short snippets (less than 3 paragraphs or so) for discussion, but please post your full stories to the story side.

11. Please do not post audio that automatically plays itself on the forum. There are people who access Lit from various locations, and in some locations they prefer to be discreet. We reserve the right to edit or remove any post or signature which automatically plays audio.

12. Please post content in the appropriate forum. We do not believe in censorship, but your posts will be moved or removed if you do not read the forum title before hitting "SUBMIT". Personal ads should be posted in the "Personals" forum, story ideas in the "Story Ideas" forum, BDSM issues in the BDSM forum, random nonsense on the General Board, and so on.

13. We will not remove your posts or your account. You have the ability to edit out any text and remove any attachments on your own. The administrators will not delete your posts just because you changed your mind about what you said. You can edit your own posts as you see fit. Please do not contact us about removing your posts.

Was 4est banned for suggesting suicide? I've done that tons of times. I used to follow Poppy round with a noose in the good ole days. This is what I mean by changes. Now I'm boring myself, fuck me. I'll go find some cockpasta gifs.

was 4est really worth the thread? The owner still has perhaps 300 or 400 accounts active.

I think we need it.

Some bannings recently seem a tad bizzare. Why was 4est Trump banned? Que? The latest Luk?

We know the posting of personal info is a deffo (the only one I totally think is justified but hey ho). The whole pea dough saga is another. Posting folks pics I kinda get but not old avs.

But what else...certain insults? I dunno, I'm genuinely mystified and not trying to be a sarky cunt.

Laurel?

The "right to repost someone's old avs" could get problematic.

What is to prevent someone of low moral character (*coughConager*cough) from posting someone's picture he found somewhere on the internet and then claiming "oh noe, so and so used that as an avatar back in 2006! Everybody knows that!" It then becomes a he-said-she-said shitfest, and the low moral character numpty wallows in the attention.

Another scenario: those occasional "show us your chest/tits/nips/dick/balls/earlobes" threads where someone flashes their naughty bits for a good 5 minutes and a splendid time is had by all fortunate enough to view them (and 3 days of angst by the "Dammit I missed it!" crew). Does someone who was quick enough to right-click-save the pic then have the "right" to repost it as they see fit?

I thought his ban was for quoting too much copyrighted material. A very boring violation befitting the offender.

We just had a fairly large controversy here about that very issue.

AJ got banhammered for having a bad morning where he referred to multiple people (including me) as P-words despite multiple warnings.

These guys really should take their meds.
