So, I've been out for a while. Good enough to be back, though.

I just earned a small vacation from the company I'm contracted for, I had to fire thirty-two men and women. A few young women, many middle-aged women, four middle-aged men, and the older woman and two older men that ran the hotel and it's restaurant.

All in the same day.

Bam.

And it was, regrettably and cruelly and unfortunately, very very satisfying.

I have absolutely no idea how to put that on extinction. I think I should very much like a job where I don't have to fire people. It's addicting.

Welcome Back, Joe.
Good to have you back. :rose:

I wouldn't know about that being addicting but I have a feeling you are right. If I could I'd have fired some of my fellow workers long ago.

I have had to fire people. I don't see it as inflicting pain on the people I fired, I see it as preventing pain in the people thay had to work with/for. Incompetents are not fun for anyone around them. The sooner they are dumped over the side of the lifeboat, the better.

Hey Joe - good to know you've got a bit of break time. I think i'd have an awful time trying to fire a person...

Not really the same for me. I was in a position a few years ago where I had to fire people due to bad times and downsizing. I didn't feel very bad about that either. First of all it was a force majeur kind of deal, there was no money to pay their salaries with. Second, it was due to the last-in-first-out clause we had never any discussion as to who was closest to the edge. Yes, they lost their jobs. But I was more concerned about saving the business for the ones still there.

Can't say I enjoyed it though. They were good people, hard working, competent and all (we don't hire dimwits). There was just no stuff for them to do.

Joe, take a vacation, put your feet up. You seem to we working way much more than what's healthy.

That's what my girl says, too. I'm one of those guys that live their jobs. Hard to unplug.
