I just read a few of the poems and stories done by people I know from the board. I discovered something, I think. The fun loving people here tell a great story with lots of description and good time sexual fun. The sour ones here tell dark stories with poor descriptions and poorly concieved plots centering around hatred and forcible sex, rape, pain, and humiliation.

Has anyone else ever associated a board persona to an author's persona? What did you discover?

Do they involve eating citrus after brushing teeth? Now that's sour....

Now I'm curious Ambro!!

I have noticed another thing about the stories...I do not read those listed as Erotic Couplings, unless I'm familiar with the author. It seems that's where the unimaginative, improbable, bad grammer, verb tense flopping stories are all at.

If you tried to guess my personality from my stories...you might come away thinking I have Dissociative Identity Disorder (what is commonly known as Multiple Personality Disorder among the masses :))

A sexy one though;)

Here is the deal. I went to the stories, purposely looking for board members to see how they wrote. What I found scared me. LOL I sampled about 15 members and their stories and poetry.

It turned out just like I described. The ones I associate good threads to, like DCL, have fantastically funny, descriptive, imaginative stories that are just good. The ones I associate bad, depressing, pissing and whining threads to had stories that were dark, ominous, unimaginative and usually involved pain, submission, and humiliation. Downright scary stuff. Now I like the D/S stories, if they are done well, and these weren't. Let's not even talk about the trite they pass off as poetry.

Sorry, but I didn't look at any of your works, but I will now.

Another Countess Addict is born.....
Read her srp's.... whew.....

Maybe i'm putting myself in the firing line here (don't shoot!).....

I think you have a point, but while i'm a jokey kind of guy when i write i tend to give in to my dark side a little bit...although not to the extent of what you described.
Maybe i'm going crazy?

Ambrosious and Countess

I hope you two own body armour, because I think before too long your're going to need it.

Yes, I have noticed a correlation between my image of a Lit personality and their stories which causes me to avoid certain authors. Perhaps that is wrong, as maybe my personality image is not correct, but it's the truth.

Now, if I can only figure out why the hell I look at Ambro's threads;)

I have to agree with you Ambrosious, I was reading some of the stories the other day and noticed many of the same correlations....

My stories are bitchy? *sigh* I tried so hard. I mean really. I even bought some midol. Can't take it, but it looks pretty on the computer monitor with the spikey cock harness. (I'm kidding. There are spikes but no cock harness.)

I don't think your stories are bitchy, KM. However, I'm no judge of these things; my own are just weird.

Very interesting

Hmmmm. I never thought to associate an author's persona with their work.

I guess I'd have to ask what you consider "dark" Ambro and then judge. Who were one or two of the "dark" authors you mentioned?

MP

I'm as curious as MP about the dark ones.

KM, while we can all be bitchy, WOOF, I don't think you can be characterized as such. You'd have to be bitchy a majority of the time, and personally, I don't think you are. However, you have to take into consideration that I am the original Piss on the Campfire Girl. I think of you as a funny person and a hard-working writer who has a diverse range.

Ambro

My theory? You can't write what's not in you. An obvious correllary is that you do write what is in you. Especially for the amateur.
Writing is an expression of myself, whether I'm writing an srp post, an erotic story, a letter to a friend or a dissertation. It has my particular style. And unless I do a hell of a lot of research (which would mean no time to play on Lit! ;)), I can't write about what I don't know.
That you find a correlation between a person's board personality and their stories/poems is a rather strong indication that this is a prominent aspect of their RL personality.

I avoid certain authors, too, because of their board personality. I've read a couple of threads recently which make me less sure that what a person portrays online is their real self, but the fact that someone would falsely portray a bitch/bastard says a lot to me.
I mean, Deborah may be a lovely person who is kind to animals and old people, but she doesn't give that impression here.

I am kind to animals and old people. For them I make it quick and painless.

Dagnabbit anyway, and here I thought this was all about erotic FICTION. ExxxCUSE me.

Hey Ambrosious, I bet I can prove your "theory" wrong. Wanna make a little wager? Money talks and bullshit walks.

If you don't want to bet moola I have a few other ideas. If you win, I have to be nice for a week. If I win, you have to wear a muzzle for a week. Hey, and I'll give you a big advantage, you can have all your groupies help prove me wrong.

How about it?

A consideration:

You'll need a non-biased judge (or panel) to decide who "fits" or does not "fit" the story that the individual in question has authored - ie Deborah's evidence.

Think it's possible to find people who are non-biased? Or will Deborah and Ambrosious decide, civilly, for themselves who is right and who is wrong?

Personally, I'd love to witness this little wager played out.

Thats funny we thought you could learn alot about a person by the way they write.................
