Bad news (for poems' nice layout)

First the system on-line editor has accepted two of my poems only for the system to reject them later. Here is the reason:

Please remove all HTML from the poem except <center></center> ( do not use paragraph alignment), <I></I><B></B> and  . <PRE> tags interfere with the loading of the webpages and we do not change fonts. Thank you.

Here on this very discussion board we have all kind of capability, including the instant editing of a note already posted, and the whole vb -- so nice. There is no reason for not having the same for the purpose of posting poems or stories. On the contrary, we should have even more features, when posting. Indeed, the security and fraud considerations are LESS severe in the case of posting a poem.

The stupidity of the Literotica software system takes my breath away.

At one time you could use some of those tags. Maybe you need to start sending your poetry in word docs. I really don't understand why you can't use <i> or <b>. They are as simple to use as <center>

You can use them, Eve. That only means you can't use <PRE> tags, which means very little...

Never a dull moment...

...at the poets corner.

Here we have a thread dedicated to advanced layout by whining to the gods of HTML, while next door at Vogon poems they are making verse with ink dipped cats.

Means a lot.

Also (like you, me too, when making tables) I like to use for poems a constant width font, like Courier New. The PRE+constant width font combination allows a good layout.

i am almost embarrassed that you put that up here...almost :)

Oh no no no.

The intent was not to embarrass. HTML, as an aesthetic tool, is hopeless. My sympathy lies with ink dipped cats.

Sorry if you blushed...almost.:)

HTML & Lit.

The allowable HTML code has been reduced. I have been submitting one of my short poems for a week. It keeps getting rejected for coding that was acceptable previously. I guess you can no longer cut and paste a Word.doc in HTML format. :(

Granted. Changing fonts was never allowed, as far as I can tell, but the <PRE ...> text is rendered in a fixed width font automatically, bypassing that problem.
