Just got off the phone from my doctor and he gave me the great new's (sic) that the pain I'v been feeling in my right knee is arthritis and that I will need to have my knee joint replaced at some time in future, but he also told me that the national health service does not like to give new knee's to anyone under 45 as you are more likley to wearout the artificial joint and they don't like having to replace the same joint twice in one life time...?

This mean's that I will have to give up playing for my local pub team's ( cricket in the summer and soccer in the winter ), well mabe I'll just join the dart's team instead.

By the way this confirm's something I'v suspected for some time, that I'm right side cursed, all my physical problem's are on my right hand side.

Right eye and ear are weak right knee "fucked", the only good thing is that my dick hang's to the left.

That sucks. I know exactly how painfull knee injuries can be. Is there no option for surgical or arthroscopic repair instead of replacement? My left knee was rebuilt not replaced and it has given me very little trouble since.

Like you all my injuries (major ones) have been to one side of my body. The right side of me is in "showroom conditon" the left side is ready for the glue factory. Broken left tibia, deystroyed knee, three broken ribs, broken colar bone, multiple compound fracture to my wrist.....on and on and all on my left side. I get more and more in touch with my mortality every day.

I have arthritis in both knees (I was a real klutz as a kid and my knees were the target of choice).

I use ibuprofen when it gets really bad; I walk and keep moving, to avoid the stiffness.

Good luck. By the way, my right side has the bad breaks too.

I don't know how you feel about alternate therapies, but this might be time to give some of them a chance. I've heard of MSM and glucosamine chrondriotant to treat joint pain. I also gave my mother a book entitled Foods That Fight Pain when she had some surgery. Who knows if the stuff in it is true, but it was interesting and potentially benefitial. Good luck.

Man when it rain's ti realy rain's.

OUTSIDER has played a lot of full contact sport ( rugby and soccer ) and has damaged the joint real bad so replacement is the only answer, the doctor say's that most of the damage was caused becuse I have a high pain threshold which is funny because I'v always been a wimp about pain.

By the way I'v just had my 33rd birthday so the prospect of waiting until I'm 45 for an operation suck's in the extream.

I have arthritis in both hands/wrists, both knees, left shoulder, my right hip, and in my toes (don't laugh, it hurts like hell!). I take MSM and glucosamine chrondriotant like Cheri suggested and it has done wonders for the pain. I also stay active like CL recommened.

I'm 31, a little accident prone, also have a high threshold for pain, and am somewhat genetically predisposed to the condition. Much empathy, OUTSIDER.

Shit I thought I had it bad.

Kitten Eye's what can I say, my knee is nothing compared to what you must suffer, I just hope they come up with a cure one day and your the first to get it.

Love and hug's from OUTSIDER.

I'm in the same boat with you, Outsider. My right knee will someday need a knee replacement. In the meantime I get cortisone shots every few months to keep the pain away. I stll ski and play tennis, football (American), and softball. I will continue as long as I can so I don't have to give up the sports I love.

When/If you finally do go for the plastic knee replacements makes ure you study out the doctor who is going to do the procedure. When I was 12 i snapped both of my knees in a bicycle accidnet and both of them are plastic, but unfortunately we didnt check out the docto and I usually have to get them fixed every year and i am 25 now.

MSM works great for knees from what I am told, it works great for my elbows and hands and ankles.

Come on baby one more time for your daddy bear.

No doubt about it you people are the best and it's now saturday morning and I feel so much better than I did yesterday and it's all because of you, BTW because I felt so crap last night I phoned my ex girlfriend ( we still talk from time to time ) and she said she had been thinking about us and all the fun used to have then after I put the phone down she just turned up an hour later with a bottle red wine and a smile, well that was last night and she is still here and asleep in my big old bed....! Let me just say Outsider does his best work at night.

Any way got to go cause I love the way she look's when she sleep's after a "HARD" night.

Outsider, I know much about pain in general. I fractured my femur<thigh bone> when I was 16, the took the rod out back in '99. And my knee and ankle are still screwed up. Yes, I know when it's gonna rain, I know when it's gonna snow. Trust me, scars are bad for my business but I cannot get rid of them. Anyway, the drs. have said that there is nothing they can do for the damage to my knee and I will just have to live with my knee giving out on me from time to time. Now if I can just do something about the extreme pain in my back.

just knowing that other's care makes it a little better.

Hey Dancinvixen hang in there girl, BTW what is your business if you don't mind me asking and as to a bad back I'v never suffered from that but I hear that to keep active is good and the odd massage doesn't hurt either.

Keep on going and spit in the devil's eye.

There is one option OUTSIDER, that you may have over looked, and that is to raise the cash and get it done privetly. I realise it would cost a far bit, but it might be worth considering.

Then later on, get it replaced with an NHS one.

Carl.

OUTSIDER....I've had both knees scoped twice and the right replaced. life goes on and so do you!

doctor told me I'd never lift weights agian... he lied!
although Ive had alot of pain I've found Glucosamine a wonder drug. I take it now and have no pain and lift regulary. give it a try. you got nothing to loose.
