Bad idea, or not?

Once you find your niche, ride that thing all the way until it spurts out all the satisfaction you need.

If you've discovered you like the genre, have fun writing it, and feel proud of your story(ies) in it. Then go for it.
I feel a subtext to what you write 🤭.

So I have you guys to blame / thank for Coleoidphilia.

I was thinking of doing Coleoidphilia 2, maybe for Geek Pride.

It wouldn’t just be the same stuff repackaged, I have some new ideas. However, I doubt I could replicate the same standard.

So:

  1. What an amazing idea, Em, you are so talented that I’m sure you can pull it off (and Coleoidphilia 2 as well)
  2. It will just be a boring rehash of Coleoidphilia and tarnish the earlier work
  3. I really couldn’t care less, I have navel lint to catalog

UPDATE:

So I’ve written the first chapter and cataloged a bunch of new ideas.

As there is a lot of time until May, I’m going to do something I’m not accustomed to and let it gestate for a bit (though I’ll add any new ideas that occur to me in the meantime).

Coleoidphilia is a hard act to follow, for me at least at this stage of my writing evolution, but I don’t think what I have l written so far is bad. We’ll see how it goes.

FWIW I have some new themes to cover and some old ones to expand on. Plus a lot of sex of course 🤭.

Literotica takes a pretty dim view of people linking to their own story sites.
Is that actually stated somewhere in the rules or the FAQs? I don't remember reading that at all, and I've linked posts to my own stories when I'm discussing some aspect of them, so that people can refer to them. I don't recall getting any reprimands for that.

And there's a link to my story page in my sig line. Is that verboten?

I don’t think it is. Just the guy was pretty blatant about it - along the lines of ā€œdon’t read here, read on my site which is so much coolerā€. If so, why come here to ā€œadvertiseā€. Maybe not verboten, but parasitical.

As I’m not into tentacle porn I have nothing to contribute in terms of the options.

But for my two cents if you enjoyed doing tentacle porn maybe do something new with it with a new set-up and new characters. A bland sequel often fails to hit the mark (says i who’s first story was a sequel) but if you’ve hit a decent mark, maybe try it in a different way (tentacle porn….with PIRATES!)

Maybe, I dunno.

The original story was far from tentacle porn. I can’t explain, without giving away key plot points. If you want to understand, then please read it.

That's allowed, as is promotion of any books in the Books by Lit Authors thread.

What's not allowed is one chapter teasers, then links off-site to read the rest.

Pirates! I vote pirates! Red headed pirates who wear glasses and stamp the rum ration books to stop everything getting out of hand …

I mean, there were tentacles. And it was porn...

Space pirates? GotG Ravagers? You could bring back your space alien as part of the crew.

Go on, you know you want to...

So I have at least an initial sketch of the story structure and some major plot points. Knowing me, it will change in the writing.

I have a working title of ā€œTransfigurationā€.

I’ve also got 3K words done - though reserve the right to rethink the beginning I have written.

The second chapter is entitled ā€œGratuitous Expositionā€ best chapter name ever!

I might set it up to have a a sequel. But it would be at most a trilogy and I’m also thinking about this being the final work. We’ll see.

There will be no pirates.
