Disaster.

They appear to have discontinued my hairspray.

My Former Hairspray

I have unmanageable curly hair. It FRIZZES like crazy. Good thing I live somewhere dry... wait... I live in the pacific northwest. shit shit shit.

I bought a new hairspray, but it makes my hair super stiff and gross, even though it specifically said on the bottle "keeps hair naturally touchable, with no stiffness" - I guess that should have been a clue in that it wasn't.

I'm sad. I am angry. I'm frustrated. Maybe I should shave my head.

Have you tried those anti-frizz products that control frizz and add shine? I find them helpful, and I really like a pump hairspray for flexible hold.

Kitty to the rescue

Put away the clippers, Britney.

There are lots and lots of products for naturally curly hair that you may find work better than your hairspray.

Try John Frieda's smoothing serum, or any serum-type defrizzer. They work beautifully and are inexpensive to boot. And they don't cause "crispy" texture, just nice bouncy curl.

There are also gels or balms that can be used. I like KMS 'Curl Up'.

If you can splurge a little, Frederick Fekkhai has an amazing line for curly-heads, as does Ojon and Nick Chavez.

And if you want to go straight...

I smooth and flat-iron my hair with the T3 ionic hairdryer (hairart) and the Digistick from Hai. I am a natural shirley temple, too and well, these tools really work.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. All I really need it for is to weigh my hair down ever so slightly so the frizz stays curly. Know what I mean?

I'm gonna check out some of those products. Preferably I'd like to spend about $5 a bottle though, heh. And I do use specific shampoo and conditioners for the stupid hair.

I get a bit nappy headed at times :D I use cheap drug store smoothing balms and cremes. I've bought expensive ones too and see little difference. I think that using the balms and cremes and then air drying or especially using a diffuser is what allows me to have curls not kinks.

Naughty hairs on your ass? What a great excuse to for a spanking!

Chicklet...

i love the new Herbal Essences for curly hair. It's in a bright purple bottle. The styling products are awesome and don't leave you with helmet head.

Someone mentioned John Frieda's products earlier, and I just thought I'd post a link. My sister has very frizzy, bushy hair and the Frizz Ease set is the only series she's ever found that worked for her. It's a little pricey compared to some products, but she says it's worth it.

You could shave your head all except for a handful in back to grab.
