Bad formatting

Ah, but you didn't use html tags you used vbasic tags.

I write in MS Word but I save it as plain text. It still works when opened again in Word. And I use HTML, not vbasic. Isn't it still a Word file of sorts?

You can open a plain text file in Notepad, but that's pretty useless. For one thing, the line spacing is often wrong.

Another one I have used is <a href> to link to other stories on the site, mostly my own. I know Literotica is a stickler for not linking to outside sites from within a story. Don't they allow it from the forum, except to competing sites?
Yes, you can link to other sites from the forum, and use <a href> to label the link.

Uh, I was talking to MetaBob, not you. You can only use vbasic tags on the forums, not HTML tags. Although, they are essentially the same except for what type of brackets are used.

[] - vbasic
<> - HTML

I cut and paste into the submissions box, composing in Word, and denoting em dashes via control/alt/side keyboard hyphen. So far, they've all held.

Zeb,

You seem to have gotten some things confused. I don't actually use ANY tags in the forums and never said I did; that is not the point of this thread (the OP wrote "A story that I submitted", after all). Instead, in the forum, I use the buttons in the provided text editor, which insert the markup for me. Simpler that way; I don't have to remember which brackets and what markup works in the forum, and what does not.

In stories I've submitted here, on the other hand and as I DID state explicitly, I use HTML tags, which use angle brackets. Click the link I provided (again) if you have any questions about what those are. Not all can be used on the various parts of this site, of course, as many of us discussed 18 months ago in a thread titled "HTML codes". In that thread, I linked a how-to post titled "Submitting Literotica for Beginners", which is 14 years old but still valid, even though as we discussed at the time (similar issues are being discussed here now), it is not fully inclusive of the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) tags that Literotica supported then or supports now. I do not use square brackets apurpose, fyi, and have never heard of vbasic tags, nor do I need to.

I know it as BBCode, but OP was not asking about the forum.

No but in his post he said "Heck, I just used both in the previous sentence."

I pointed out that he used BBcode. Or vBasic tags.
