Well they rarely do, do they? People who make negative comments and then refuse to leave their name are trolls, nothing more. Rarely, the comment is substantive enough to learn something from it but not usually. Usually it's more along the lines of "you suck and so does your poem." I look at it this way bulltlr: it's no skin off my back and they're the ones wasting their time trying to get to me.

You've invested a lot of time writing and (obviously) thinking about poetry and commenting and you are steadily improving as a result. So screw the anonymous meanies: you are coming out ahead. What some douche who wants to make you feel bad thinks truely does not matter!

to keep the review thread clean, clean or something like that...

neato!

i have to admit that they still gave me a giggle on my poem, but i can see how some would be less than amused.

to sign off 'anon' can have a purpose, but certainly not in these latest instances. they're imbecilic trolls. i moon them. *butt emote* ha!

I'm ahead of you I've got two different anons on one poem, beat that you limey cow!!

in a way it's a shame that anon gets all lumped in together. I had a few that where good, drove me crazier that the bad ones. And you still have yo make a distinction between the ones that are talking about the poem and the ones that are talking about something else.
A good rule of thumb, if it's laughable, laugh at it. If it's not, get pissed, but then get rid of the pissed off feeling.
Don't ever let it get to you.

Probably because it is quite obvious that they do. There is nothing wrong with leaving anonymous comments in themselves, but they often seem to be left as a way of insulting the author, for whatever reason. Quite often the author then comments on the comment in the forum or with a come back comment on their own poem. This likely encourages more sniping anonymous comments as it demonstrates to the anonymous poster that the insult affected the author.

is this wimp still only targetting women?
you probably have one wimp
looks like there maybe someone, doing a vague emulation of me.
there probably are a few personal enemies (of various whoevers)
and maybe one or two opportunists (who are not leaving comments)

which means 5,6 plus 5,6 that maybe leave good comments, scores.

what's that make it 10-12 anon's

the anon that is leaving vicious comments on the ladies poems I believe is a newcomer and pretty sure who that is, there has been a 'resident anon' for ages who can on occassion be rude but not that obnoxious. I don't think you would leave anon comments ........ why bother when you say it anyway :D I do think though that you get carried away with various crusades that can't be good for your stress levels. Oh sure it's good to stand up and be counted but do try not to flatten all before you that are doing their best in their own way. I've known you on and off for a very long time so I'm hoping you won't take this the wrong way but just as something to think about when you march forth with your banner aloft :)

if you knew me longer, you would know, for some the banner is not aloft, but rather level and aimed right for the heart, and that is because I was made infamous for the one comment I didn't leave.

I think there has only been 4 people on here who have made me want to chuck things one of whom was a man loved by all full of bonhomie and adoration for his wife, who I knew was the biggest hypocrite going from the PMs he shoved in my direction. I even mentioned these to another member who outright said she didn't believe me and I must have misunderstood! I know there are many things I don't understand but a man coming on to me is not one of them. Now you may wonder what the hell this has to do with the price of chips but the faces that some people show the world i.e here, are not the full story behind the scenes .... just what they want you to see

sigh - i'm cheap at half the price ::eek:

I know in my other life at the Daily Plant I am rather weak, wishy-washy and wear glasses.

It's only here I put on a cape and become

Pawmpuss Arse

and she claims she's making a movie:eek:

hhhhaahahahahahahahaa - wtf?

as for the poem, i don't know the intent but i do know what i saw - the duality of these images overlaying one another:

jesus, alone in the desert, transported to the mountain top - the Temptation... the seeing and understanding... the battles waged in the name of religion raging centuries, millennia after his death

and

the gravestone catching the early mourning light; the one trying to bear the loss of a loved one, words failing them, insufficient... the platitudes of 'heaven' not enough, a failing of faith, a knife catching the early rays ... impending suicide.

the first begins small and spreads to encompass time and geography on a vast scale; the second starts big but shrinks in on itself, tighter and tighter, till it's all about the gleam of that sun(son?) on the blade's edge.

i like the fact that both interpretations work for me in my own head. 2 poems for the price of one.
