I've been off for 5 days and I absolutely, positively do not want to go back to work tomorrow.

Anyone wanna finance me for the rest of my life so I don't have to go back?

Yep, today and next Monday, that's it! I could have taken vacation days, but why bother, I'm home all day anyway, just have to work Tue. Wed. Thr. and Fri. pfffft!

I can, technically, take a day off whenever I feel like it.

The only problem is, I feel like it all the time.

Which means I don't get paid.

So today, I work.

Min had 4 days off.
Friday was spent shopping and wrapping.
Saturday we wrapped more, I did my back in and we and spent the evening at her parent's house, with the family.
Christmas Day we spent the afternoon/early afternoon at her grandma's house with extended family. By the time we got home she was coming down with a cold.
Yesterday, she spent the day on the couch, wrapped in blankets, coughing and sneezing, drinking water and taking cold meds.
Today she goes back to work. Still with cold. Reluctantly.

*le sigh*

It wasn't quite how I envisioned our first christmas together, and definitely not how I imagined our one day together with no commitments.

Get well soon, my love.

Pension planning

Boring, I know, but planning for retirement gets harder every year.

I'm now retired. I don't have to work but I paid high for my pension plan when I was working. Now I can just about afford not to work.

I worry about what my daughters will face when their retirement age comes - a long way off but I started paying for my current pension when I was 18.5 years old. Because of going to University and the tuition fees etc, they didn't start paying until their mid 20s. That will make a significant difference in their 60s.

Thinking about how you will finance your retirement, and not only by selling your writing, will give you a hope for a future of lazing around...

Now I must leave, shovel snow, clean out the fireplace, shovel coal, do the washing...

It's nice not to work.
