I know, I know...I used to be a regular....but school got busy and I went home for the summer. Now I find myself back in good ol' Amherst and I'm fuckin' lonely! I hate school and miss the human contact i had over the summer.
Welcome back to school everyone. I saw someone wearing a shirt that said "Freshman Girls: Get one while they are still skinny"

to all my massholes - maybe this will be the year we rent out the second floor of Amherst Brewing and have a lit-together!

Bare! I haven't seen you in ages! I'm so happy now that one of the regulars is back (and when I say regular, I mean from the good old Masshole thread.) :D

yeah, i am back. going to kickboxing now though...have a great friday:)

Nice to see that some things haven't changed since I went to UMass in the 80's! Of course, we were still allowed kegs in our rooms (something about lessening the risk of drinking and driving - see, the administration USED to have common sense).

Enjoy it all while your there. There are certainly times that I am at work and wish I was back in JA!

NYC

My ex-roomie from last year is now an RA in JA. I like James, which is where I'm living now. It's relatively quiet, compared to last year, and lacks the scent of pot (which I don't mind if it isn't really thick...which it was since my neighbor was always on it). I don't drink (yet) or do drugs, but I do so enjoy talking about sex. Go figure. :p

UMass is actually where the world comes to an end. I get physically sick when I am on campus. next thing i know...hives.
News is Ben and Jerry's is opening on main street....
and Cold Stone is open in Northampton.
there's lots of muchies going on here. Gotta keep off the Freshman 15, especially as a second year grad student....lol
Saw 13 going on 30 tonight. Cute.

I am going to have to avoid B&J like the plague. Last fall semester I was downing a pint of those bad boys almost every night. It's bad enough I still eat the soft serve and all. I need to try to lose at least some weight this year. Don't know what Cold Stone is, though. Care to introduce me to it, Bare?

I would, but I'm fat enough as it is. I've lost 35lbs since january (plus the addition of muscle weight), so a big ol' pile of cold stone wont do anyone any good. For a nation watching its carbs, there certainly are a lot of cold stones opening up. Anyone ever been to one?

basically it's like herrels....but more expensive and a lot more "mix-ins"....but I'm sure I'll want it a few times:)
BTW: B & J has very yummy low fat stuff:0

off to see what the 'farmers market' of amherst has this morning....tired of watchin people pray in Arlington over the Pentagon 9/11. Why must they bring god into everything? They can't just do what they do in NYC? That's a beautiful and, to this day, still touching ceremony....but nnnooo gotta bring God in it to make sure we alienate more people in the world!

Hi Puss..;)

Didn't know you are back- I was in Noho this last weekend, could have given you a call...Too bad

Oh my, then I have no regrets - you weren't there anyway..lol

How was Chicago - did you have a good time? hope people there more fun then here in Boston...

chicago was absolutely fantastic on many levels, thanks for asking. great city....how have you been? why were you in noho?

That doesn't help either because I don't know what that is! :( I should try some of B & J's low fat stuff, though.

yea its no so bad and a while lot less guilt associated with it.
the thing is, once you stop eating like that, if you lapse, you get sick in your own special way....
so you learn to enjoy a little bit of good things.

Thanks, I 've been OK, just busy as hell..

I was in Noho over the long weekend just for some R&R. I like the area - it is so quaint and picturesque, good for a long bike ride uring the day, then browsing bookstores and having drinks at night.

Talking to various local characters and watching alternative chicks with piercings and tatoos all over is also fun..lol

Anyway, what is so great about Chicago - I always imagine it grime and windy. Could you enlighten me?..:)

it wasnt dirty at all - it's got great architecture, wonderful shopping, world class museums and restaurants and jogging along lake michigan is beautiful. what's not to like? it's like NYC without the attitude.

NoHo is nice....was there on thursday to wonder and get a facial at this fantastic day spa there. when ya coming back?

Chicago is great. Only about 90 minutes from there. Take chitown over Detroit or NYC any day.

It's not. Just mentioned it. Just one of the big cities I've been to. Yuk! Lol.

Hmm ...NYC without an attitude does sound good - I guess I will have to visit

As far as coming back to Noho again, I plan to do it on a clear crisp fall day when I 'll feel like taking a day off to watch leaves...will let you know..;)

Btw, which spa did you go to? There are several in Noho, you know..

yes i know. brooks and butterfield. fabulous, and that's not even mentioning the piece of chocolate from the place across the street (bill and bobs?) that they give you after your spa session(s)....
mmm
it's a great place

Yeah - so they say. I never been to the place, guess I am not a metrosexual..lol

There is a new spa on West street, by hot tub place, it has a flotation tank.

Also, this time I had dinner at Green Street cafe nearby -food was real good. Ever been there, puss?..:)

Ben and Bill's! We have a branch of theirs back in Falmouth. Unfortunately, I've never been, so I do need to get my big ass down to Noho and try me some of their good, good stuff. :)

never been to green street - dont know where it is. I've only eaten at a few places in NoHo...the brewery (which really isnt that great), Amanouz (that right spelling?) and Haymarket. Stopped going to the Haymarket b/c the employees dont wear shoes. I'd like to try the Del Ray and Bistro 41 though. maybe when my folks come. Or maybe HeWolf will treat me;)

HI folks....

just an average person who travels out that way fairly frequently (yes for work)....

BP....what's the name of that bar that is under the railroad tracks in NoHo? I kinda like that place....for martinis
