With college stories, one aspect I feel that gets overlooked is that in addition to the students, you also have middle aged or older adults who are either getting their degrees for the first time or are coming back to finish up a degree.

So what about an older guy who wants to get his degree but he’s managed to run a fairly successful business. So he’s getting his degree for him, not out of any financial need. He’s a bit embarrassed to be attending classes with much younger folks, especially when he gets put into a study group/group project with a bunch of attractive freshmen/sophomore coeds.

They need a place to work on their project away from the noise of the union so he invites them to his house. Group is impressed and while they have different reasons for getting their degrees, they bond. Towards the end of the project one or more of the co-eds make a pass at him either because they like his maturity or cause they want to give him the “college experience”

2. RAs I think are another aspect of dorm life that get ignored and have potential. While they can be seen as narcs for enforcing the rules, at the end of the day, they’re students who need to look after students not much younger than them.

a. RAs have been getting in trouble for not getting their floors to attend functions and the RAs not using their entertainment budget appropriately. Dorm head says they expect a much higher turn out at the next event and they expect the budget to get used or the RAs are going to lose their privileges.

RAs then use the cash to hire strippers and throw a big party in the basement, which gets a massive turnout even if it’s not the activity the dorm head was thinking.

b. RA for a girls floor is tired of dealing with a particular girl. Every week she’s in a shitty new relationship with a new guy and the guy makes a huge scene on the floor requiring campus security to be called. RA confronts her and girl says she NEEDS to be in a relationship and won’t take any advice. RA, completely frustrated, tells her to at least try dating a girl since her taste in men is shit. Girl takes this as the RA coming on to her and practically jumps her and starts making out with her. RA protests…but it has been a while since she got laid…

I have a story on the back burner that relates to this.

40-ish female college professor. Once divorced, she finds dating in a college town, problematic at best. She overhears a couple of colleagues talking about their time with a male escort, so she decides to call. She meets a gorgeous young man, and they have an amazing time together in a hotel room. Where I live, where school starts in September, a LOT of babies are born in May! That is NOT a coincidence.

I am one of them, but so is my daughter. All her siblings were in school, so my wife and I could get plenty of nooners, or at least until she was born. But that is kind of the issue with kids. As soon as one is born, it resets the clock for parents. We are empty-nesters now though which is nice.
