Arthur Robinson, 47, had been teaching at the university level for several years now, but this was his first year at Central University. After the last few years, he just felt it was time to move on to new surroundings and found this small college in the mountains of the northwest United States.

Being a new faculty member meant that most of his students would be freshmen and sophomores taking introductory courses in Information Systems.

Arthur considered himself good-looking, working out in the university's fitness center at least twice a week. While he had enjoyed several relationships over the years, nothing seem to last very long, so he was single to this day. If asked, he would only smile and admit to a few "serious relationships", meaning that he was "experienced". More than one coed had opened her legs to him for help in the classroom.

He had beren on campus since mid-July and his office was organized; classes were beginning today. His first class was at 10:00, early for some students, but these introductory classes were frequently scheduled early in the day.

Looking up at the clock . . time to get to class, a brief 5-minute walk from his office . . . and a 15-minute walk from his off campus house if he chose to stay at home until classtime.

Entering the classroom, Arthur surveys the incoming students and waits until 10:01 before stepping in front of the class.

Annabelle (aka Anna) Jackson, 18 y/o
Freshman

"First day of school!" Anna's mother had told her in a very excited voice.

Anna tried not to roll her eyes as she poured herself a cup of coffee, "Please Ma, I'm not 6, it's just the first day of college, that's all. Most of the same people from high school will be there so really, nothing's changed." She said as she took a sip of the warm, steamy drink to start her day.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
After a summer of sleeping in, waking up before 9 was hard enough and staying home but waking up before 9 and having to be somewhere was even harder.

Even though she had applied for other schools across the county, Anna knew she'd end up here at home. Her parents didn't have the money to send her off to an expensive college and she didn't really work at trying to get a scholarship.

She didn't even know what she wanted to major in so she kept it at Liberal Arts for now. Perhaps one day she'd figure it out.

It was 10:02, perhaps the instructor wasn't there yet. She had a habit that had not changed since high school and that was running late for class. Well, for everything in fact.

As she entered the room where the class was, she noticed it had already started and that the professor was there. Their eyes made contact briefly and she hoped he could see the apology in her eyes. Anna took a seat and got her materials ready for class.

"Good morning everyone . . . welcome to Introduction to Information Systems. This course is critical to your college careers. All incoming freshmen and transfer students are required to take this course. The understanding of Information Systems is critical to almost every profession these days."

Just as I start my opening remarks, one more student, a very pretty young lady walks thru the door and slides into the first open seat. Briefly making eye contact, she seemed humble enough for being late.

"This first class will last only for a few minutes. I want to quickly run thru the class roster. As your name is called you may leave . . . Please pick up your course outline and book list on the table by the door. We will begin our regular class lectures next period. Please make sure you have the required reading done before you come back to class."

As I call your name, "Annabelle Jackson," and you raise your hand in answer, "Please see me after class for couple of minutes."

"Annabelle Jackson. Please see me after class for couple of minutes."

Like a bunch of juveniles, the rest of the class let out a low "oooohhh" and a few low giggles from others. Anna sighed and just nodded at the instructor.

Wow, the first day and she was going to get in trouble. What was he going to do, send a note home with her so mommy could sign it? The thought made her laugh under her breath. As the rest of the class was called on and let go, Anna sat there through it all.

Finally, she was the last one left. Gathering her bag, Anna walked up to Mr. Robinson, her apology already being said before he said anything, "Hey, I'm sorry for being late, but really, it was just a few minutes." She told him as she looked up at him.

"Ms. Jackson, I know it was only a couple of minutes and you didn't really miss anything into day's class; however, being late shows a lack of respect for the rest of the class . . . and actually, a lack of respect for youself and your future."

"That's it . . . enough said. I look forward to seeing you in class everyday . . . and look forward to getting to know you and everyone else this semester."

Like a child being scolded, Anna could only nod at the words from her instructor, "I realize that, again I am sorry."

She took a deep breath and smiled, "I look forward to getting to know you too Mr. Robinson, it won't happen again. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"

"Be on time . . . coming from a business background, that is very important to me. As far as i am concerned, today is already forgotten."

"I want you to enjoy the class; if you any questions at all that don't get covered in the lecture and discussion, please see me after class or make an appointment to see me in my office."
