I need some help for my next story from any ladies who have ever attended a bachelorette party held at a bar or nightclub that featured a scavenger hunt. I posted this request in the AH, but I didn't get any useful replies. I have a number of questions, including: what are the rules?; how many items are typically required?; does everyone participate or just the bride-to-be?; if just the bride, what is everyone else doing?; how long should it take to complete the search?

I'll probably have more questions as I get further along in the story.

Maybe it's a silly question, but have you tried here?

I've never been to what you're describing, but I'd imagine the number of items would depend on what the items are. 10 is probably a fair number in general, though.

And every guest would typically participate, just like they would with games at a bridal or baby shower. The hostess might not participate in the hunt, but she'd probably check the items as people back with them and determine the winner(s).

I'd make it a shorter search because the point of such a party is for everyone to have fun together, not to run around and do things on their own. That, or it could be a longer search in one location (the bar/club or wherever else the women are going that evening) that's maybe based on finding certain types of people, clothing or completing dares, but you still want to stress the camaraderie of the evening over any game/hunt.

Thanks Erika. I've looked at couple websites that purport to supply lists for these parties. I've gained an idea of how an ideal, somewhat tame version of one of these parties should proceed. But I'm more interested in hearing personal experiences so I can get a flavor of how they actually unfold. Two threads on this topic and no real-life responses are leading me to the conclusion that these things do not happen very often. That, of course, gives me more license to make up my own details, but I was hoping that they would be somewhat grounded in reality.
