Oliver Rodgers walked into on of the bars that was located just off Main Street. The 26 year old had just returned back to his hometown, where he had lived up to his nineteenth birthday. However, like most kids his age he had gone to university and to conquer the world. But about eight years later he was back at spot one in Greenville. A local company had hired him as their new head of accounting, which was a big career opportunity for Oliver, so he had not been able to turn it down, although it was in his old hometown and not in NYC, LA or Silicon Valley.
At high school, Oliver had been a pretty good basket ball player, so he had been lucky and gotten a scholarship for one of the big universities outside the state. Using his fortunes well, he had focused on his studies and gotten a business degree, knowing that he would never be good enough be become a professional. However, being a decent player had giving him lots of connections, attention by the girls, a degree, and a job at a big accounting firm once he had been done with school.
After a few year working and getting his MBA, he had been looking for the next step in his career. So he had enlisted with a head hunter agency and soon got the offer for his new job. Hence he had found his way back to his small hometown, but this time he was feeling that he belonged to the successful and better part of the town. The company had gotten him a nice home for the time being, so life was looking not too bad for Oliver.
The young professional looked around in the bar, searching for his friend. The watering hole had seen better times and wasn’t the kind of place that Oliver would normally visit, but an old buddy of his, Andrew, had suggested the bar to meet and catch up on the last few years. Like always, Oliver was early and he guessed that Andrew would be running late. So he ordered himself a beer and sat down in a corner facing the bar. Several young looking guys and girls were having a good time and Oliver was reminded of his time as a student.
