I took the baby to the ER and they said nothing was up there after all. However- he did have a viral infection that was causing his nose and throat to hurt.

And he's cutting a tooth. It's hurting him really bad- especially when he eats but not only then. We're getting him some more tylonol, but he acts like we're beating him when we make him take it:rolleyes: and spits half of it out. He really hates the orajel. I don't know what else to do. Most of the advice you get for teathing seems to be for infants. He's almost 3.

He wants to eat- but it hurts him so bad!:(

Aww poor lamb.

Maybe something cold would be good..an ice lolly (popsicle) or something to suck in might numb his mouth a bit for him.

Good idea, that usually tends to help.

A good life is one in which Stone Phillips doesn't show up at your door with the crew from Dateline NBC and ask to interview you about "the incident."

A good day is one in which there are no foreign objects stuck in the baby's nose.

So far, so good.

This sounds like bad parental advice and I'd never tell my mom I did this. But when my son was really sick and didn't want to take his medicine, I mixed it with Coca-Cola. We try not to give him very much soda and he loves it so, he gulped it right down.

Also, Advil(the berry kind) tastes a little better and lasts longer, so you might want to give that a try if he wont do the Tylenol. My son had that head congestion forever this winter and the only thing that really ended up helping was running a humidifier with the liquid Vicks in it.

Hope he gets better soon, there's nothing worse than seeing your kiddo miserable.

Over here we have Bonjela. A very effective anaesthetic (sp) for teething problems.

What lots of people don't realise (and aren't told) is that when you massage it into the gums, it's the fact that inevitably some or most of the preparation will fall naturally between the gum and cheek. This area is known as the buccal area.

Blood vessels in this area (plus nerve endings) can absorb things directly thus making it quick.

Did you ever notice in 70s and 80s cop shows where they test the unknown white substance by rubbing it on their gums? It's because cocain is a natural anaesthetic. It's what your dentist uses (well, a close relative at least) called novacain.

I would never suggest using coke for teething but before the war (over here anyway) it was common practice to give a teething baby whisky or gin.

Give the baby the oragel and give yourself the shot of whiskey. An even better idea.:)

At least not good coke. With a baby, you can probably get by with an undersized gram of crystal meth, cut all to hell with baby laxative. Kids are easy to rip off.

Not just there, Gauche. My grandmothers rubbed whiskey on our teething gums or aching teeth. Plus if it gets the baby drunk, even better.

Go to your local health food store (any place where you can herbal rememdies and good vitamins) and ask for HyLand's Teething Tablets. They are a God-send. Your son can have 2 to 6 of them at a time as often as 20 minutes. They taste like sugar, so the kids love them. When my boy was teething, he would actually go get the bottle out of the baby bag and bring it to me, even at just a year old.

Good luck!
