Baby Oil for lube - good or bad?

So I'm wondering how good of a lube is baby oil when using it for anal sex? does it stay pretty clean back there and then come off fairly easy when done? anybody with any experience good or bad with baby oil would be very helpful!

Well, no oil is latex-safe, and our bodies can have trouble when they're coated in synthetic/petroleum-based and some other oils. In addition, a lot of baby oil is fragranced, which can lead to irritation.

Apart from the cost difference, why use baby oil instead of silicone lube? Silicone is latex-friendly, moisturizing, doesn't cause reactions or infections, a little goes a long way and it stays super slick forever (so, unlike most water-based lubes, the amount used won't cause a mess). And, really, it doesn't cost that much if you get a larger size for a good price because you don't have to use that much for great results. 16oz of silicone lube costs about $40, lasts us several years, and it doesn't dry out or go bad.

Yeah, baby oil probably would lead to a lot of unwanted irritation during sex but, from experience, KY's warming liquid is good too (ride on, cf haha) but yeah, you could use that, or what good ol' porn stars use ... SPIT! I'm not shitting you, it's the most natural lubricant you can use (b/c you actually make it in your mouth) and me and my boyfriend have been using it for a few months and we love it. i use ky liquid...it's available at walmart and it's not too thick. it seems to work alright and last long enough...it's real slick. i don't know if it is silicone. i don't think so. i think it's prolly water based because its real easy to wash off.

if y'all know of something better, please tell me. i (personally) don't like anything too thick.

also, baby oil is comprised of mineral oil. mineral oil is cheap in huge bottles. one time i got a huge plastic sheet and put it on the floor of my apt. poured mineral oil all over me and called my b/f in from the other room for a "slide". we had a blast with that stuff. i don't use it as regular "lube" though.

Pornstars don't really just use spit. They have plenty of lube on a porn set. Afterall, some of the women are just doing it for the money and their cunts don't even get wet enough. KY Jelly is a very poor sexual lube. It's formulated for one-time insertion of instruments or fingers for medical procedures, not repeated insertion or thrusting. That's why it gets sticky and dries out so fast (which means you have to use a lot of it and possibly create a mess). Also, a lot of the water-based lubes especially are packed with alcohol and chemical preservatives, which can be very irritating.

So, if you want to go water-based, you may want to look for a lube w/ natural ingredients that has staying power and perhaps a thicker consistency (Probe is one brand that's like this). Otherwise, go for silicone lube (you can even mix it w/ water-based lube to extend the life of the lube). Babeland.com has wonderful lube guides that talk about types, ingredients, consistencies, what activities the lubes are best for, toy compatibility, etc. If you're on a budget, it's not a good place to buy your lube, but for informational purposes, it's a great site. You can also get a few pillow packs of the lubes that look best to you (e.g. a silicone and a good water-based) and try them out before buying the larger size.

ll of the "sensation" lubes can cause some really horrible effects. I've tried "tingling" and "warming" ones (all different brands) on a whim, and I think there's only one that didn't give me an awful burning sensation. Being forced to run to the bathroom because my bits feel like they're burning is sooooo NOT sexy! I can't imagine how awful it'd be to have that ouchy stuff in an oriface that didn't self-clean, place that couldn't be washed easily or come into contact with a small abrasion during anal.

I've heard more horror stories about KY Warming and other sensation lubes, too - enough that it can't be a good idea to try them when one is geared up for intimacy or unable to wash the lube off easily.

I don't like the warming lubes AT ALL! If you are going to use that stuff, you should try a small amount on yourself first before using it during sex. It was extremely irritating to the point of being painful for me. Never again!

Actually I find it rather odd that such a wide range of lubricants exist. Sure, it's fun to experiement, but really, when it comes down to it....it's just motion lotion.

Butter is a poor choice because it stays up there and gives bacteria a ton of food, which can lead to all sorts of problems.

If you *must* use a food item for lube for anal, go for olive oil, coconut oil (which has natural antibacterial properties) or, in a pinch, plain Crisco/vegetable shortening (just make sure you get it out w/ a clean spoon so you don't contaminate the container w/ fecal bacteria).
