I was attending my Aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary party this weekend and got to hold my newest little cousin, Issac.
He's 5mths old.

It was nice to hold a baby again. I love when they rub their little faces off of you. He was such a good baby, very quiet and happy to be held by anyone. We had a small dance under the disco ball since it seemed to fascinate him....and he was smiley....babies have such beautiful smiles.

Ever notice how holding a baby and looking into their little faces make all things seem right? They cling to you and hang onto your hair, they smell like babies and they have that fuzzy hair. I kissed him like crazy.

Yes, I am a big softie when it comes to babies.

I get along good with kids too, they find me for some reason....they are attracted to surly I think.

I had an entire dinner conversation with my soon to be 13yr cousing who thought I was the coolest lady. Smart kid.
She talked 90 miles a minute, we discussed the environment.

Kids are fun.
Babies rock.
I recommend being around them as much as possible, even when they make you nuts.

I find I enjoy being around my niece and nephews. It's fun looking at the worlld through their eyes.

Can only take them in limited doses though. I'm a solitary curmudgeon at heart.

There's a window of time in their first year when small kids are not infant enough to cry at the drop ofa hat, and not yet old enough to develop a demanding attitude. Those kids I like.

Then there's another window of time around year 3 to 6... when they actually start understanding what you say and are able to pay attention, and before they realise how full of it you and all other adults are. Those kids I like.

And finally, they develop spines, can follow logic reasoning, stop blaming everyone else for their inabilities and grow the hell up. This happens somewhere between the ages 12 and 102. Those I like too.

Today I had the opportunity to hang out with a little girl of the first variety, the latest kid of a very faraway cousin. 'twas fun for an hour, before the facination on her part wore off, and she fell asleep.

We spent some time yesterday, with Min's nieces and nephew. The nephew is just 4 ( we went to his birthday last weekend).....and quite adorable. When he smiles......

Anyway, he seems to have taken a liking to me, god knows why because I'm very strict with kids, but I'm not averse to getting down and dirty to play their games on the floor with them.

I usually avoid small persons.......like the plague. I served my time with my own two, and I've told them quite strongly, that I have no desire to be a grandmother in the immediate future. No need to rush the process along for me. I'm happy the way things are.

Well, what I actually said, was, you make me a grandmother and I'll cut you out of my will.

:D :D :D :D

Oh stop it !! They know I don't mean it. I simply have a reputation to maintain.

I love children and babies make me go all soft inside.
I must be one of the crazy ones cause I actually volunteer my free time to spend with children. At my university we had a partner's in Education program where we helped a partner elementry school. I used to read to kindergarden kids and I also read at the Childrens Hospital. Their faces light up every time I come in with a book.

Thank fuck for that! :D :p

I'm not sure what it is about babies that makes me want to have more. In a world of unlimited resources...that's what I'd want to do, make more, watch them grow.

Even the part of my brain knows better, but not really. She still says...awwwww...

For me the worst part about our plan to move 2,000 miles away is my baby nephew. He's about a year and a half and he's so adorable. He's had a lot to overcome in his short little life, and all is not over yet, but I swear to look at him, you'd have no idea. He's so cherubic.

I love babies, not having one myself ,factory is closed, but holding everyone else's.

me, too...

holding a newborn's head cradled in my hand... there is nothing like it... in my profession, I get to do it often, thank goodness, or I'd have more than four to tend...

here's a picture of a baby that I took and a little haiku:

cradling the universe

My nephew peed in my face the first time I held him, but I still love him to bits. I don't suppose he could help it at the time :)

I looked at this earlier and love kids, cats, dogs and vermin and strangely they love me - I do not know why, but I was thinking, perhaps that age kicks in where you think - shit I need to birth one of those vermin things! And sure Abs, you make them seem all nicey, and they do feel and smell all nicey... UNTIL they shit and you have to change the diapers! ;)

Been there...

I have a few years off untill grandchildren appear. God's gift for getting old.

Most of the younger children I've encountered have been in Portugal, where I've bumbled along, half speaking a language. I think that's why me and kids get on, we know the words but the grammar is a bummer, so they think I'm one of them, just a bit taller.

Babies I love, and now daughter has finally set up home...

By the title of this thread, I came here expecting it to be about Mat and the cut she's made so much fuss about

I  babies.

Shhh.... if you're very, very quiet, you can hear my biological clock ticking.
